I just wanted to thank everyone who posted in a thread of mine several months ago regarding the city of Austin and what side of town to live on, etc. I've since flown in to check out the city at length and I've choosen the Four Points area, 620 and 2222. I've just never seen anything quite like that area! Seems pretty close to everything I'll need, downtown, Lake Travis, major highways/tollways, etc... So needless to say, I'm pretty excited and I appreciate everyone on here for their input and support! I look forward to watching some Rockets games next season with the group that gets together in Austin from this BBS! Any additional information about the city, its best bars, restaurants, parks, must-see things, etc. would be great. I've searched ad nauseum online, but there's nothing like hearing it from the natives! Thanks again guys!
If you're in the market for a 3/2 house a bit more central than the "Four Points" area, let me know. I'll be selling around that time. Good luck.
Congrats on the move. That is a very nice area. If you like to jog (or even if you don't) go jogging in the Riverplace subdivision. MILF's like you wouldn't believe. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking County Line on 2222 has good bbq. It's just terrible.
sweet part of town, man.... have fun. austin kicks major ass. ps - hit up taco deli on barton skyway right of mopac for some top-notch tacos. the cowboy taco and mojo fish taco are out of this world, but make sure you get the spicy green salsa.
There's also a location on the corner of Burnet Rd./Duval Rd. and Mopac/Loop 1. (One thing you'll learn about Austin: Roads tend to just randomly change names...among other civil engineering disasters.)
d'oh, i forgot about that one... good call. and yes, the roads in austin will confuse the ever-living piss outta you.
It's RR2222. The difference, technically, is "Farm to Market" or "Ranch to Market." Different regions of the state (and sometimes different locations within those regions) use different names. Apparently, 281 is the cut-off... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farm_to_market
I hear there are sweet condos there in that area with brazilian hardwood floors. Across 2222 from the HEB Is that where you moved to?
To be fair, I haven't been to that one...just the one on 2222. I'm fairly sure their sauce is a level below the Hill Country Fair crap you buy at HEB.
Nah, I'm not ballin like that yet. I just got an apt at Riverlodge. I figured $750 a month for 870 sq ft. was too good to pass up for that area...
True, but if you do want to stay in Austin, RUDY'S. But then again, if you're into making the drive, go to the original Salt Lick. And bring your cooler, expect to stay for a while.
