Well, in the case of Wilcox, you might want to wait a while and see how it plays out. Wilcox has only been in the league 4 seasons and may have a tough time getting off of the Rox bench. ;) :D

We wont do crap. We might get MJ with the MLE (I would be glad) but that still probably wouldnt be enough.

More likely, we will split the mle and then suck. Battier is not a 3rd option. Maybe James is, I am not sold.

There are zero GREAT free agents. Look to have top 10 draft pick next year, new coach, and a sneaking suspicion Charlie Casserley and Bud Adams are rolling around in mounds of money smoking cigars, lauging at the hex they put on Houston sports teams!

It would be great to see Cassel back as a rocket but doubt we will be able to get that deal done. Probably some of the most attractive free agents right now are Miami Heat players. Both Zo and Gary Payton are going to be free agents but they will probably either both retire or try to defend the title at Miami. We could really use a good pg and backup center.....I really like Mutumbo but Zp is playing alot better. GP would bring great defense. JVG also needs to talk to Spreewell.

James is the third option, if we can get him. We really need to grab a guy like James because he can backup Alston at the point, and also provide scoring at the 2.

We also need to upgrade our PF spot with rebounding and defense.

Most likely, we do a sign-and-trade for James, using our trade exception, and perhaps, a draft pick, or Luther Head.

Hopefully we sign a pf with the MLE, like Nene or Wilcox.

    Mike James b***ch!

I don't realistically see any player signing with us for the piddly amount of money we can offer. Any sign and trade would have to include Juwan---i think we're screwed.

Wilcox, i'm iffy about. He only showed up in Seattle, as good as he was.

I must not have been clear enough in my first post.

this is an edited list of FA's. These are the guys that ESPN's insider think s will likely be on the move. anyone else will likely re-sign with thier current team.

    wilcox, radman, etc...

    -----------------------

while some first time posters are b!tching about how thier are no "GREAT" FA's and that we will suck next year, i have to remind people...

we can't afford a GREAT free agent. we only have the MLE. IMO, the list is full of role players who could make us better. last time i checked we only need a backup PG and a F/C.

we don't need a sg, anymore. we got battier at the 3, which moves t-mac to the 2. what we need now is a back up 1 (mike james) a back up 5, and a back up or starter 4. we have head still. hes a good reliavle 5-15 minutes in my opinion. we use our mle in mike james. and then we get the pf by the trade exception, like wilcox.

You guys might hang me for this, but...

CATO would be agreat pickup... he would be fairly cheap and he played well for the rockets when he was here. he also can backup yao. i mean, mutombo won't last past this season if at all. he's the kind of cruiser we need and JVG liked him alot when he was here.

cassell would be great as would mike james. maybe the rockets could swing for that??

and remember, with luther still here, he may play some major minutes next year.

i never really looked at it like this yet, but i will say one good thing about the trade: OUR TEAM IS WAY MORE HUSTLE NOW ... luther, deke, battier...

now if the rockets can just get a spark through free agency... they will actually have the hustle players they need playing major minutes.

ISN'T THAT REALLY ALL WE NEED AROUND YAO AND TMAC? JUST HUSTLE?

If we can get James and a athletic power forward, it might take away some of the sting from the trade, and making a decent off season. Adding Battier, James and one player wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. That happening and The Most Important, having our Big Two healthy, I'd bet we're in the playoffs. Now the question is, how far can we get? In essence, getting Battier means we get a starting SF, moves TMac back to SG and someone who play minutes at the four, depending on the mathups. That sounds alright, but I really wanted to take a chance on Gay. Whats done is done, time to move on and see what moves the Rox make.

If, somehow we landed Al Harrington (never going to happen), I would love it! :D

With that said, I'd like to see a guy like Songaila signed for small dollars.

I would actually welcome Kelvin Cato back to this team with open arms, too.

I doubt James will accept the role of coming off the bench especially since he thinks he's hoing to be MVP next year.
