I would LOVE to see us somehow acquire Al Harrigton since that would easily give us the best frontcourt in the NBA and would immediately improve our chances of making a deep playoff run.

The problem is it will likely require a S&T to which we don't have much to offer outside of the usual: Luther Head/draft picks.

There isnt anyone on the Rockets roster that would interest Atlanta in signing and trading Al Harrington. On top of that, we just screwed Stro, whos agent is Andy Miller, the same agent for Al Harrington. Think how Stro must feel... he took a pay cut to sign on to his favorite child-hood team, and they trade him after a year back to his old team when at this point he could have been making double and starting in Atlanta.

Im hoping theres more to the Battier deal. Dahntay Jones would be the happy meal toy, Warrick would make it fair, and Mike Miller would make this our steal.

Someone mentioned Jumaine Jones, I would have loved to have him on our roster but no need now that we have Battier and Novak.

I think were best off splitting the MLE between Mike James and Francisco Elson then re-signing David Wesley to the vets exemption.

agreed the only chance that a team would offer him more then the MLE was gone when the Raptors traded for TJ ford.

Which could have been double if it werent for the rockets. And now, Stro's value is bottom-barrell. Despite Andy Millers reputation, this one hurt his business.

there are only 5 teams under the cap this summer. i don't think any of them will offer James anything over MLE value.

After seeing this long thread of offseason acquisition possibilities...I would not only like to see Mike James here but adding Matt Harpring(a UFA) would be a great move IMHO...or even Troy Murphy if we could pull a deal.....

Make it happen CD.....MJ and Harpring or even Murphy

I am just like any of us who think adding harrington would make us leathal but the only deal that would work would be luther, jho, and next years first. And man that just kills any sort of depth that we had but if we did do it we could still add mj and maybe give the te too rasual butler or james jones so maybe we could pull this off.

I really think our best feasable plan of action is to sign mj and then make a deal maybe our te's and next years first for gooden! Gooden really isnt that much older than a than a senior any way!

i really dont see this trade helping us, we would still need better shooters and getting buckner doesnt really help us getting more athletic and younger.

btw are u the same tmaniac from the other forum?

If the Hornets got our TE and a 2nd round pick in exchange for J.R.Smith could it help them resigning Claxton and Butler and also let them acquire another FA?

Yeah, from a couple other forums.

I dont think we need more shooters if we have Shane Battier, Mike James, TMac and Steve Novak on the team. Hopefully their presence will help David Wesley and Rafer Alston to find their rhythm, too.

Buckner wont help our youth situation, but if that backcourt rotation were true, he would be the most athletic there. I like him more for his perimeter defense, with him and Mike James prowling, the opposition will have a very hard time getting their offense going.

The problem I have with our current roster, before any trades, is that we are notoriously soft all around. With Buckner, James and Reggie Evans, we could leave som serious bruises on the other team.

I dont think New Orleans is in too much of a salary bind and I dont think a TE thats worth less than 2 mill can really help them do much.

I know if this is correct that I've read in past articles that JVG is not impressed with Evans' flopping and other dirty works....

What about Kurt Thomas??? Good rebounder, decent shotblocker, good defense, enforcer-type, has good range for a PF. He is a gigantic improvement over Juwan Howard. His contract is relatively expensive but it will expire soon.

    2006/07 2007/08
    $7,355,625 $8,091,187

We will never be under the cap anyway and itll expire soon so its not that big of a problem. Plus i think he can be had for cheap cuz Phoenix's frountcourt seems a little crowded now with the return of Amare Stoudamire. They would have Amare, Kurt, Marion, and Diaw.... One of them have to go and theyre in love with Diaw. Also Kurt has fallen out of favor of Coach D' Antoni(remember in the playoffs after his foot injury he never played much). He is also the type of guy we were looking for someone who could play the 4 and the 5.
I think if we give Juwan, (anyone to make salaries match, most likely an expiring contract). Throw in Head or a future first round pick(they need these to save money and for next offseason to sign diaw and other young players.). Make sure it is lottery protected also. The only problem is I dont know if they want to take on Juwans contract.... But Kurt's contract is bigger so they would be getting some salary relief. Then sign mike james and this would leave us with a line-up of:

    Rafer/Mike James
Tracy/Head(if hes not traded) or some scrub like Wesley
    Battier/Novak
    Kurt/Hayes
    Yao/Mutumbo/Kurt

Im in love with this line-up lol

I dont think House would work in Houston. He has free rain to jack up 3s in phoenix. Besides I am afraid to take on any phoenix player cuz i think nash does so much to help with their stats. I am interested to see what type of player amare would be on any other team.

Does anyone know much about Rasual Butler?

He's a good three point shooter(38%), and I remember his being a pretty solid defender back when he was with Miami. I assume he come pretty cheap...seems like a potentially good pickup. Could he play the two for us?

    My short wishlist(No order)
    1. Jared Jeffries
    2. Aaron Williams
    3. Rasual Butler
    4. Qyntel Woods
    5. Bobby Jackson
    6. Drew Gooden
    7. Chris Wilcox
    8. Tim Thomas
