I'd be ok with more Star Wars movies IF they were given to a competent director thats NOT George Lucas and if they didn't screw up the canon of the series. They wouldn't even have to be direct sequels or prequels to the current films. Heck, they could adapt Knights of the Old Republic into a film
A non-Oliver Stone version of W. You know, where David Kay still discusses mission-altering WMD findings, but not at a ******* brunch. We're probably due for a few good historical biopic re-boots once we run out of sitcoms and comic book sequels. Maybe a half-decent Iran Contra movie, or something about World War I.
Honestly I think those will make terrible movies especially Atlas Shrugged. Every 10 minutes someone would be giving a 1/2 hour speech. in a 5 hour long movie.
Momma, I Killed Dean The Elmer Wayne Henley Story With all the gore movies they make about kids and psychopaths, why not make the real one? Think Dazed and Confused with PCP and sex torture. ( I wouldn't see it, but it would be huge)
Well you're not going to like this the but Shurgged has already been filmed, independant release later this year I believe after aborted starts numerous times with multiple A list actors interested then bowing out.
Back to the original question, I'd love to see a live action Robotech movie (Macross Saga) done seriously.
To digress....Speaker for the Dead was the novel Card wanted to write, but as he was writing it, he realized he needed a preceding novel, thus he wrote Ender's Game.
I've contemplated this for years. Seems like it would make a perfect/dark picture. Somebody like Terry Gilliam would be great for this. Drugs, sex, escapism, "big brother"-esque control, etc.
I'd like to see Gears of War made into a film...I think an adaptation would possibly work better than Halo, mainly because I think Grubs would look better in a live-action movie than all the different Covenant species. But ....I'd still like to see Halo. I wanna see a Running Man film that's true to the book, and not like the crappy Arnie version. Just finished a book called Bonecrusher. Think it'd be a pretty awesome adventure flick... the western frontier around the time of the Alaskan gold rush, zombies, air pirates, gun fights and poisonous gas...what's not to like! I'd like to see a Riddick film that's similar in style to Pitch Black (which was awesome) and not Chronicles (which had to many crappy moments). I'd like to see another Appleseed film. And I'd like to see a District 10.
If I remember correctly, Spoiler doesn't he fly a plane into a building at the end of the story? Would that fly with audiences today?
I am curious about how they are going to do it. My guess is they will strip out all of the speeches, Spoiler except for the one at the end that Galt makes when he hijacks the airwaves. While focusing on the action of exploding oil wells, train crashes, sonic weapons and the shoot out to rescue Galt. Now that I think about it that might make for a good movie but wouldn't be true to the book which 75% is long winded speeches.
On the subject of movies made from video games how about a Splinter Cell movie starring Clutchfans own Sam Fisher.
I don't know, actually I think they keep a lot of the long winded monologues. The people who'd been trying to get it off the ground for years kept running into issues because studio bigwigs wanted to streamline the story and cast a big name female lead, Jolie was attached for a while. The people making the film did not hence they ended up making it outside the standard Hollywood studio route, went with no name stars and backed it with their own money. It's a hellva risk, have no idea what the finished product will actually be.
Been awhile since I read it, but it sounds familiar. Well even if they changed the ending, they could still stay faithful and keep the tone of the book. Less cheesy action flick, and more cat and mouse type thriller
