Oh yeah, there is this one really dreadful movie I bet a lot of you haven't seen it: it's called chuck and buck. I seriously didn't get this movie. Another, Lady in the Water. That was the first movie I walked out of it mock laughing. What Dreams May Come True! I have no idea about this movie. :confused look:
Lost In Translation was the worst movie I ever saw at the theater. I only went to watch it because of all the award nominations, etc. It was and remains the only movie I have actually considered walking out of in the middle of it ... and I saw Dumb and Dumberer at the theater.
I don't understand the point of many 80's movies like the Breakfast Club or Farris Bueller's Day Off. For some reason it has some kind of a legendary status to many of my friends.
Lost in Translation is good. I spent weeks at a time in Japan and that movie really hit the mark for what those times could be like... really almost surreal.
I rented Lady In The Water on DVD, and it was the worst movie I have ever seen. I only finished it just to see how much stupider it could get. Lost in Translation is my favorite movie of all time. It's one of those movies where you either love it or hate it.
I'm usually not into artsy films that get a lot of Oscar nominations and such. But I did watch The Thin Red Line since I liked war flicks at the time. It's clear in my mind because it was the first time I ever walked out of a movie. The pace was so slow you can get more action watching grass grow. I was shocked that you can make a movie about fighting a war and not have any action. As for movies I never really got plotwise: Magnolia and LA Confidential. But I really like both for some reason.
Lost in Translation is a favorite film of all-time. There is a lonely quality to it that I like and it lingers with me.
What didn't you get? That's one of my favorite movies of all time. I agree about Donnie Darko....I didn't get it at all.
snatch.. but i think it had a lot to do with the people iwas with when watching it (constantly whining about it). Gotta rewatch it sometime before assuming anything..
Any of the Jay and Silent Bob movies. Just not funny at ALL to me. I don't think I even cracked a smile for any of them. Just really DULL.
Totally agree. I was so let down by that movie. I'd heard such great things about Bill Murray's performance and Scarlett is both HOT and a good actress. But the whole film left me cold. I didn't think Sophia Coppola's directing could be a worse than her acting, but I was wrong. Another film that I didn't get was 'Wonderboys'. So many critics loved it, but it just did nothing for me.
Magnolia. I like everything else Paul Thomas Anderson has done (Punch Drunk Love is my favorite movie), but this is the most pretentious piece of garbage I have ever seen. And whats so great about Caddyshack?
El Topo (Mexican movie) My Life as a Dog - don't get me wrong, it was ok movie....it was out there A Boy and His Dog - Don Johnston movie in his earlier days....Harlan Ellison adapation....another good ok weird movie. Titanic - don't see why it was so great Children of the Lost City - another weird movies Any movie with Yahoo Serious as starring character - even though there weird...they r always fun to watch. The Adventures of Mark Twain -
The John Hughes cult will see that you PAY for those disparaging comments... Thin Red Line was the first war movie that sent me to sleep. So star studded yet painfully actionless Felt the same way about Traffic. Benjamin Bratt with a thick South American accent is the only thing I remember from it. And that thing RAKED in the nominations. No David Lynch movies mentioned, surprising. I guess "movies you dont 'get' " and "weird movies" are 2 different things.
