This is too extreme. I can say fanstay lover should go watch the TOON channel. The problem wasnt that 300 fact based, I thought it was pretty faithful to what was recorded in the history. But just the visual, dialogues, and the weird characters I dont get it.
No its mostly real, I read that the actors on 300 went on a boot camp for 6 weeks or so before the movie. They had a training regimen a few hours a day in addition to strict diet. There actually is a site which detailed the actual workout. It was something like 50 pullups, 100 pushups, 100 squats, etc.. a few times a day.
The visual is what I loved about it. It reminded me of some of the old paintings we have today. The composition, the way the villain is over dramatized to make the heroes that much bigger while actually being a lot smaller. The visuals is what told the story for me, the script was just an additive.
Inland Empire. I got Mullholland Drive. Hell, that was like college calculas for cinefiles. But this thing is like algebraic number theory. 3hrs of watching 2 dreams wrapped in an enigma interjected by an avant-garde TV sitcom with rabbits. The movie still f*cking rocks. But I'm not gonna try to get a hold on it right know.
exactly. it was based of frank miller's graphic novel 300 and the battle of thermopylae was based of herodotus' writings alot of old stories are exaggerated when they're retold..i thought the filmmakers did a great job your thinking too much..just watch the film.
That is funny, because this was also the first time I ever walked out on a movie. I imagine there were a lot of people that walked out on that movie. I am the type of person that likes strange flicks too. Donnie Darko is one of my favorites. But man Thin Red line was such a huge piece of crap.
Terence Malick's films are all like that, they aren't about on screen actions but instead like visual poems about certain subjects. The Thin Red Line being about the nature of war in relation to humanity. It's an excellent film but if you go in expecting a typical war movie, you'll be terribly dissapointed
I bet if everyone in this thread watched that film, no one, and I mean NO ONE, would get it! I usually end up reading Wikipedia after a movie because it makes me think. However, A Scanner Darkly was one movie that I had to read about because it just left me confused about the story..
It's based on a series of visual novels / comics. Alot of the "freeze" and "slowmo" shots look nearly identical to certain pages. At least that's what they told me... Personally, Napoleon Dynamite really failed to impress me...
