The Coen Brothers have done this twice in recent films, and I didn't care for it either time. The first was in No Country for Old Men. The second was in A Serious Man.
I think Darkness Falls had one of those, don't know if anyones mentioned it yet. If I remember correctly they just drive into a black tunnel and the screen shows "Darkness Falls"/end movie. Pretty wack movie.
This was a horribly disturbing ending, but one of the best from the past decade http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8uPYulh05I
Wasn't the ending to "A Boy and His Dog" rather abrupt? It's been a long time since I've seen that movie.
Layer Cake ending. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CamgFlOGwB8 F*** that. I definitely fall in the camp that was pissed off by that g4y ending. I don't care if you think it was clever, shocking, original, whatever you want to call it, F that ending.
Yeah, I just have to reiterate this. It really can't be stressed enough how god-awful this movie was.
La Haine (Hate)... Great French movie with Saïd Taghmaoui (Lost, Vantage Point, Sleeper Cell) with an unexpected ending... If you haven't watched the movie I recommend to watch it (skip the Ending video below) <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3Ijjl6t30Kc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3Ijjl6t30Kc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
