The end of Deathproof/Grind House is another. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/U-mJvfa3l2A&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/U-mJvfa3l2A&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Actually, it was Anjelica Huston(His Mother) who smashes him......great ending to a great movie, though!
I didn't watch the clip, so I don't know if there's something different in it; but the ending seemed to make sense from a karmic and structural standpoint. Older, crazy misogynist homicidal stuntman gets done in by younger, angry female stuntmen and models. Moral: the world's changed. Rose McGowan leading a horse-drawn convoy to Mexico, dressed like a Berber, seemed a bit more random, although funny as hell (and still not abrupt).
Thanks, I was a little too thrown by the ending to re-watch the film since then. I might have had some trouble following the plot, too, but that's on me.
Yes! Did he die, or was that just a metaphor for wandering aimlessly through life? Underrated movie, by the way. The part where Shannyn Sossamon goes to see her boyfriend after he comes back from Europe, and he just waves his hand over his face and shakes his head. Or Van Der Beek's whole suicide attempt scene, with the damn BIC razors, funny funny stuff.

It's almost funny how r****ded that was.
It is one of the most underrated movies around, I've made all my friends what it, great stuff all around.
A couple that come to mind. 2001 We just see the space baby floating outside Earth. I think Clarke wrote 2010 just to explain what the heck happened. Das Boot Great ending of the captain watching the sub sinking while in port. The Matrix Ending again explained in later sequels but a dramatic ending with the question unresolved of what is going to happen to the Matrix. The Planet of the Apes (original) One of the all time great sudden endings. My dad isn't a science fiction fan and he loves that movie just for the ending. Blade Runner (directors cut) The studio was so annoyed by Ridley Scott's unresolved abrubt ending that they made him film a happy ending scene.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? Love the ending: <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/K0UzG-Gc7II&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/K0UzG-Gc7II&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
