I know there are a few movies out there that actually took place in Houston. One of them was with Chuck Norris and that kid called sidekicks. Does anyone know of any movies that took place in our city. It seems that all the movies take place in NY, LA, Miami, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland. Also I remember in Terminator 2 the Galleria Mall was involved. Was that our Galleria in houston?

It was Robocop 2 (I think the first was filmed in Dallas). My friend's brother was a cameraman for Robocop 2 and we got to watch them film. It was fun, but boring. It takes 'em all friggin' day to get one or two shots (though it was the stunt crew we were watching, and they have all the tedious work).

Bad News Bears 2 had footage from the Astrodome.

Twins had a scene or two here. I think the TV show Reba on the WB takes place here in Houston. If not then that whole family is a big Houston sports fan.

one of the best 80's movies ever made (not joking)... "my best friend is a vampire".

it was filmed in houston, but don't remember there being any mention of being located in another city... so there. :)

There was a film about a teenager who turns into a vampire somewhat in the same vein as Teenwolf. Not only was it filmed in Houston, but my High School of Milby was used in the movie. The name was changed to Milton High. It came out in 1988 or 1989. Rene Auberjonois??, the kid from Dead Poet's Society who commits suicide and the guy who played Jack the Ripper in Time after Time are in it.

Also: Leningrad Cowboys, Paris,Texas, The Chase w/Charlie Sheen, and Local Hero w/Burt Lancaster.

haha. I loved that movie as a kid.

Parts of SIdekicks was filmed in my uncle's dojo. And some was filmed at TSU. And they had the premiere at freakin Cineplex Odeon Sharpstown, the most ghetto movie opening ever.

Are we forgetting about the Bad News Bears sequel where they play in the Astrodome?

Urban Cowboy was a big one.

The movie "The Chase" (1994) was filmed in Houston (set elsewhere) - they filmed in River Oaks as Beverly Hills. Only reason I know this is because my father's secretary had a small role in that movie.

Yeah, the gas station they used for the holdup scene in the beginning of the movie was in Kemah, right where you turn to go to the boardwalk. I think the Hardy Toll Road was also used quite a bit in that one for the car chase.
