The holy mountain remains the most wtf movie i've watched El topo sorta followed a plot but i have no idea wtf the holy mountain is even about a must watch? maybe. its ****ing trip for sure
Holy ****. I watched this film (Coherence) for the first time last night, then immediately ran it back for a second viewing. I would have completed the triple dip had it not been for the sun peeking through the windows. It really does beg to be rewatched. I love it. Seems like Primer is one I need to see next.
I've mentioned these before I think, but if you like weird, get weird: Color Out Of Space Mandy The Void The Empty Man
Really? I have been saving midsomer I loved Hereditary and was hoping it was in the same vein. What did you like about The Witch? I thought the movie was beautiful and would have liked it if it was just a look at life in early America but none of the supernatural stuff worked IMO.
Midsommar is good/decent and worth watching. Hereditary is with out a doubt the best thought from those 3.
So what do you love about The Witch, my problem probably is that people built it up so much as a horror movie, I was really let down. My main issue with it was the goat that thing would have killed at birth, everybody was scared of black goats at that time.
The Witch is all about mood for me, I'm not too concerned with historical accuracy so the goat deal didn't bother. I will say it's the type of film that's called a horror film, standard jump scares and gore, while it's probably better described as psychological horror like to last year's Saint Maude.....
I am going to do a Depalma rewatch over the thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. Blowout Dressed to kill Body Double All movies I know I have seen but need to see with a mature eye. Also going to watch Crusing with a better understand of the psychology of being in the closet and discovering something you did not know you liked. Would really like to start a movie club here and discus some of these classic movies deeper than just recommending them.
See I loved Saint Maude it was exactly what you are talking about, a Mood. I am not one to nitpick, but he did everything else great historically, so the goat just stood out. Even with all of that, if they stuck the landing I would have given it a 7, but that was unsatisfying as well. Anything else you recommend along those lines?
Lamb with Noomi Rapace is another really strong mood piece, if you can get with the general conceit it's surprisingly effective.... The Night House with Rebecca Hall is another solid one, the trailer gives it more of a straightforward horror look than it actually is......
I started that and did not return to it, I will definitely finish it over the break, only 5 minutes in.
Its a slow burn but I think it's worthwhile been a big fan of Hall since I saw her in 2016's Christine...
Super great film, one of the best selling films of all time... That's right, of all time...... Watch this one ASAP.....
I’ve asked this before but does anyone know what happened to jiggyfly? I recall he was having some health issues so I hope he is ok and just been taking a break.
