I'll take everyone's word it's good. I won't ever see it. I hate with a passion anything that has anything to do with Midland/Ho-dessa. (For example a few of my ex-friends, and of course, George W. Bush)

I was doing some more internet search on the Milan story and discovered this story (http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Hoosiers) which indicates this:

"In an interesting historic connection between the movie and real life, the losing coach in the movie's state final was played by Ray Crowe, who coached all-time great Oscar Robertson at Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis. In 1954, Robertson's sophomore year, Milan defeated Attucks in the quarterfinals of the state tournament. Attucks, coached by Crowe and led on the floor by Robertson, would go on to win the next two state tournaments. "

    Here's a team photo. Ronnie Truitt is #3: http://www.milan.k12.in.us/StateChamps/1954.HTM

Ronnie Truitt also has a junior high school named after him in NW Houston's Cy-Fair School District. I went to school there several years ago.

As far as the moive goes, I thought it was pretty damn good. I thought it was better than Remember the Titans, but I wasn't a huge fan of that movie. It's much better than Varsity Blues, and as far as Hoosier's goes I think it is a great movies, but I'd rather watch football in a movie than basketball, so I would give it a slight edge over Hoosier's.

Anyone notice that Roy Williams (UT and Detroit Lions) was one of the Midland Coaches in the movie, but when he was in HS he went to Odessa. Thought that was kinda funny.

At the time Ronnie Truitt passed away, he was my highschool principal at Jersey Village High. They made us watch Hoosiers our freshman year.

I want to see it but do not want to go alone. My girlfriend isn't in to those types of movies. :(

I finally got around to watching this on dvd. Man, what a yawn-fest. It was just like countless other football movies. Motivational speeches, hard hits, yelling coaches. What a letdown.

I hadn't seen it, but anything will be hard to live up to "Remember The Titans." That's one of my favorite movies and it set the bar high for sports movies.
