My sons room is decorated in Lightning McQueen and I can basically quote line by line the movie. It is a goods kid movie while I found The Incredibles great. How can someone not like that movie? Nothing is as priceless as Edna!
I think it(profitability) was because of that damn larry the cable guy character. Hated that guy and character, and the "moral" of the movie to enjoy the ride was pretty weak. But the movie going public is in trouble if Pixar's resorting to the fail safe sequel.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/cars_2/ Coming in rotten right now at 34% with 118 reviews in. Hope this discourages Pixar from going the pure money-grab sequel route in the future. To be fair, much like Green Lantern, looks like most of the reviews aren't necessarily saying the movie is terrible, just mediocre.
I'll be definitely be checking this movie out this weekend. It will break records. "My, you've gotten fat."
My 5-yr old has been going nuts over this coming out since the previews started on tv a few months ago. Doubt we'll get to it this weekend...but probably sometime in the near future as to keep his head from exploding.
to be fair i believe that it was Disney behind this after they fully acquired Pixar. I had a friend who worked at pixar who said that they before never really wanted to do sequels outside of toy story 2 but said it would change now that disney was in full control they would want to milk franchises like crazy also saw a monsters inc sequel is also in the works.
To also be fair about it... that could have probably been expected because it's "in the air" when you see the last scene. Don't you think? I don't mind sequels... except when they're good... as good as... *suspense* ROBOCOP 2!!!!!
I have zero interest in seeing this movie now. My son is about to turn 2, so I imagine somewhere down the line we'll watch it. He has Cars toys, but has no idea they are connected to a movie since my kids hardly watch any TV. The first Cars was easily the worst Pixar film. I'm surprised by the hate on Incredibles, which is my favorite Pixar movie.
I just took my 8 year old, it was ok...not great, not terrible, just ok....he liked it.... What I really want to see though is the Lion King in 3D, they had a preview and it looked amazing. DD
My girlfriend's son is 8 and he loved Cars, but I thought it was the worst of the Pixar films. Now that I hear this one is Larry the Cable Guy intensive, I'm going to have to make every effort not to get dragged along to see it.
Haven't seen the first one and never planning to see this one either. Their only sequel if ever there is one that I'm looking forward to is The Incredibles.
That was an awesome movie, probably my favorite Pixar. The first Cars was mediocre and I have no intention of spending a dime on this one.
I think the only animated movie that I've liked in the last 10 years is Up. I hated Cars, and wasn't a fan of Toy Story 3.
I've resisted showing my 4 year old Cars, although I know he'd love it. I just pretty much hate that movie so much, I'd rather him watch quality Pixar work. I've no problem with any of their other efforts, but this one is just a step below. No desire at all to see Cars 2. But I am surprised to see it with such a low rating. For me: 1) Toy Stories 2) The Incredibles 3) Wall E 4) Up 5) Monster's Inc 6) Rattatouille 7) Bug's Life 8) Cars Ratatouille I think gets forgotten cause it came on the heels of Cars, but it was an excellent movie. And I know Cars is a cash cow, but Incredibles was such more deserving of a sequel. But then best not to ruin a good thing.
