So as far as timeline is concerned, did this take place before or after X-men last stand? If after, how is Prof X alive? Didn't he get blown up by Phoenix? If before... what?

Should I treat this as a stand alone movie?

The time they send Wolverine back from is after Last Stand, and yeah they never really address that.

DO NOT treat it as a stand alone. They at least make a reference to pretty much all the other non Wolverine only X-Men movies.

Watched the movie last night. Excellent movie (and not just comic book movie, it's an excellent movie). Jackman was good playing the fish out of water, and the rest of the cast committed to the characters, no matter how small it might have been. The standout for me was Quicksilver. Brought enough comedy to lighten the tone without being a joke character, and his big action scene is definitely a highlight.

Technically they showed him alive at the end of the last stand. Apparently he had a comatose twin that he then inhabited the body of. They then retconned this whole movie. Yay.

Magneto is a bad ass. I'd love to be him.

    Question about Quicksilver.

How did they reference Magneto being his dad in the movie? I missed that.

Definitely the best X-Men that I've seen. Really liked the ending.

Absolutely loved this movie. As a huge fan of the X-men, I'm so glad Brian Singer pretty much fixed all the mistakes Brett Ratner made. Quicksilver, Magneto were badass! Can't wait for Apocalypse!

It's crazy to think that this director is the same director that made Superman Returns! Whatevs, this was for sure the best in the franchise.

As I read that, the memories suddenly came flooding back to me... I only remembered how Magneto was able to move the chess piece at the park and totally forgot about Prof X's scene. Thank you :)

    So a Wolverine Question:

So Mystique saved him out of the water pretending to be Striker.
So does his time line of him being turned into Wolverine with the metal skelton and claws happen?

Thought this was miles better than First Class which was a bit cheesy at times. I have it ranked

    X2 > Days of Future Past > X1 > First Class > Last Stand

    You're welcome. :)

We're all wondering the same. It wouldn't make sense otherwise.
