I saw this movie last night (preview). I see all the posts about "folks aren't ready for 9/11 movies" and "folks shouldn't make money off 9/11". Here is a quite from William J. Jimeno, Ret. Port Authority Police Detective and one of the dudes that the movie is about. "As a survivor of 9/11, I want people never to forget those that died from my department, the Port Authority Police of NY/NJ, and those from my fellow departments, the NYPD and FDNY, as well as all of the EMTs and the civilians in NYC, in Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon. I know that with the talented cast of people that have been brought together by Double Feature Films to bring this film project to life, they will never be forgotten. It will also be a tribute to all those that gave everything they had to bring people home to their loved ones. If that was the goal of the movie then they definately hit it right on. Prior to the movie I had no idea about the dead Port Authority police, no idea they only rescued 20 people after the towers fell, etc. The movie is a tearjerker and it helps you to remember those things. It really focuses on the people and the rescue attempts of 9/11. With that being said it felt too long...kinda like when they have enough script to last 1 hour and they stretch it out another 30 minutes.
I won't see a 9/11 movie, but that's a personal choice for me...It's not that the profits don't go to the families as this is a business...Did the church get any of the profits for Passion of the Christ, no... I recorded on my Tivo the Discovery channel's look into this tragedy...It's 2 hours and I've had it for 6 months and I've only been able to stomach about 45 minutes...It brings back too many memories of that day and it sucks... I've said this before but, I still think its too soon to do this type of movie...Look at Pearl Harbor, Saving Private Ryan, etc...They weren't done 5 years after the incidents happened...That's what sickening, IMHO...
