Not as bad as LXG, but few movies are. However, some of Van Helsing was just painful. PAINFUL.

Someone should tell Jackman to sign that X3 contract while the money is still good.

Well, not quite as big a disaster as The Hulk. Only a 61.1% drop from week 1, which is actually quite bad, but at least it's not the worst ever.

Late to the party because of all the bad reviews, but I really enjoyed this movie.

Since you responded to his post doesn't that make the bump a success?

BTW, I saw the movie at the theater when it first came out and enjoyed it.

    Vampire movies...

We know from numerous historical studies that the idea of beauty changes over time. For instance, in the late 1800's, the idea of beauty was a pleasingly plump gal, presumably because back then, if you were a little fat, it meant you were also wealthier than most (could afford good food) and didn't have to work very hard. These days, it's the opposite, as being thin means you have the free time to work out and the wealth (and prep time) to afford things to eat other than crap.

So, why is it every vampire movie has female vampires who reflect our current idea of beauty? Shouldn't there be some plump ones from the 1800's? And what about the Renaissance? Same thing. Of course, this assumes that vampires only made those that met the idea of beauty at the time, but what if a gal had a great personality that attracted some vampire? Or prhaps someone had political access that the vampire could use to get wealthy enough to support their lifestyle for a few centuries? Also, why are the vampires usually tall when we know that historically, most people were short compared to today?

To sum up, I don't find vampire movies very realistic or historically accurate.

This is the exact same reason I didn't like the Scooby Doo movie.

The best vampire movie I've ever seen is a Swedish film called Let the Right One In (2008). It got a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
