came back from seeing it in IMAX i dont know why people are all up in arms about this its transformers i found it entertaining just like the first one there was some things that could have been edited out to make it shorter but I came out of the theater very satisfied with the movie and the outcome. There was some things that bothered me in terms of the mythology of the transformers (like the "fallen" character) but overall it was a good summer ACTION film imo.
That's what I thought also of the movie... I liked it better than the first one, but I'm not treating it like the Dark Knight or like the first to Spider-Man movies... just though the critic rating overall was really misleading.
All 4 of my sons are going to like it. If there is good special effects, lots of action and popcorn, I am sure I will like it. even if I sleep through some of it. I have a bad habit of sleeping during movies, I had to see Iron Man 3 times before I saw all of it...
For those concerned about the box office take of this film, it did 16 Million - just from the midnight screenings! This will easily clear 50M for its opening day. Might even get to 60M.
I think this is likely to go over the 300 million that the first one got. It's really a well anticipated movie of the summer for this year... there really aren't too many other movies, Harry Potter.... I think that's about it.
Saw it earlier today and have to agree with you. It's an entertaining flick that's very much like a transformers G1 episode, don't expect anything from the human characters in terms of depth. Like quite a few of the new transformer additions but Skids and Mudflap, eh not so much, nearly as bad as Jar Jar.
saw it at midnight last night at First Colony (damn high school crowd) and loved it, probably because I set my expectations low since the trailer looked like straight action movie, but it actually had a plot/story enough for me to watch it again, which I was planning regardless to see it again on Imax (the real, not fake one ) few things i have to say with tags Spoiler thank god they didnt overplay the Linkin Park song, but loved how Green Day's new single "21 Guns" was basically Megan/Mikala's theme music wouldn't have been interesting to see Jonah Hill running throughout the movie? IMO, he probably would've lost weight for the role, but would've love to see him in the college roommate role Rainn Wilson's cameo was, ummm, short as hell, I thought he was going to have a bigger role cool to see John Turturro back but wanted to see others from first with cameo (Anthony Anderson/the hot blonde hacker) I thought the whole decepticon taking over that chick's body was a ripoff of Species, but whatever the shock value was probably what surprised me the most, if I was a parent, I would actually think twice before I let my kid see it still a great/fun movie, plan on watching it again before buying it on Blu-Ray
i think the prediction that it will have a massive decline after a big opening is off. fan word of mouth is going to be good. it appeals to all demographics and there is practically no competition for this movie (except harry potter, which kind of appeals to a different crowd anyways). the industry expects this movie to break $400m.. i think it will probably do that easily.

watched it last night, GREAT MOVIE!! first and foremost i'm a Transformers FAN (I grew up with the toys, comics, and cartoons) and I must say I enjoyed it as a fan. I would watch it again
Wow that sounds good, I want some character building of the transformers not of the human characters, who cares about them.
no its definitely better than that. as i mention in my above post...if you liked the first one you'll like the second one...they arent the same movie but in terms of action/character depth (meaning none), and plot they are the same. there was more action in this film which i did like though compared to the first one
Exactly, most people wanted less people and more robot action in the first and this one delivers but don't expect any character building for the new bots either outside of the autobot twins which were, eh, think jar jar in episode 1 times 2
