The costumes have too much of a plastic look. Odin's metal eye patch is just bad. As for the casting, they couldn't get Dolph Lundgren or Rutger Hauer as Odin? The trailer does show some promise. As long as it's a well made movie with passable acting.
Dolph Lundgren would be so awesome.. This looks like fun B entertainment, and it would be a stretch if this was rated R but I doubt it... Another Marvel movie I'm looking forward to...

Looks good. Didn't give me geekbumps or anything. But I'll go and take the kid on opening weekend anyway.
NOOOOOOOO!!!! Damn them to hell for getting an Academy Award winner instead of some cheese B-movie actor!
Wow, this look like pure ****. I can see that they are totally desperate when they are giving away that much. "Soldiers"? Shouldn't Odin be calling them warriors?
Thor is awesome in concept, and the film could have been awesome if they had elected not to go for "shiny, modern" in costumes and more for "Norse, badass."
Norse mythology: Odin sacrificed his eye at the Well of Wisdom (<--can't remember if that's the proper name) in order to attain the wisdom and knowledge of the world. The eye sits at the bottom of the well and allows him the "vision" of wisdom/knowledge. Hence, eyepatch.
Eh...after iron man / incredible hulk / iron man 2 being as good as they were, I am willing to give marvel studios the benefit of the doubt. With that said, I'm not impressed by the trailer. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of Thor though. I think the whole idea of taking something from norse mythology and calling it a comic character was practically plagiarism to begin with. Anywho, I'll go see it the night it comes out like all comic movies. Hopefully it's good.
Thanks! I had no idea. I'm more of a Greek mythology guy myself, so I'm not familiar with Norse mythology. I retract my previous statement. I actually don't have a problem with him having an eye patch so much as how the actual eye patch looks in the production photos I've seen.
Never read the comics, but the the trailer looks fun! And I wasn't expecting to see Natalie Portman either... must watch.
No problem. Norse mythology is definitely my favorite, but I did like most people and got my start with Greek mythology as well. I've actually never read a Thor comic, but I know a lot about him just through mythology, and he's always been my favorite mythological character. When I was 16, I was in Denmark where I bought silver Mjollner (Thor's Hammer) pendant. I've worn it ever since, so....18 years now. It's going to irritate me to no end that people might assume I'm wearing it because of this movie. And I agree with you about the eyepatch. They definitely could have made it look cooler.
I totally enjoyed Walt Simonson takes on The Might Thor. Highly rooted in the Norse Mythology. Totally hated the idea was Thor with the Avengers BS.

Well. It sure as hell looks better than Green Lantern. I'm pleasantly surprised. So far, anyway. I really hope they do this character justice.
