Wish it could happen that way but we all know producers only think about dollars and cents. But if they did handle the more mythological version. Would that be out of Marvel Entertainment's rights?
The director who would want to go that direction would be a God. It would be interesting. Risky but interesting.
I would have gone with Vincent D'Onofrio. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7rnTpR4M1ZI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7rnTpR4M1ZI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
So there was a rumor that Anthony Hopkins was getting pissy on the set cause the guy playing Thor couldn't act for sh-t. I don't know if anyone can be as bad as Channing Tatum but I will wait and see.
I've always thought the guy who should play Thor is this guy. <a href="http://s62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/notafaker/Wrestlers/?action=view¤t=Thor.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/notafaker/Wrestlers/Thor.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/notafaker/Wrestlers/?action=view¤t=Triple20Thor.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/notafaker/Wrestlers/Triple20Thor.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/notafaker/Wrestlers/?action=view¤t=Triple-H-triple-h-416577_1024_768.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/notafaker/Wrestlers/Triple-H-triple-h-416577_1024_768.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/notafaker/Wrestlers/?action=view¤t=347844_res1_HHH1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/notafaker/Wrestlers/347844_res1_HHH1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I predict this movie will play for like five straight months at the Castro Theater in San Francisco. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
The current synopsis via official press release: "Marvel Studios expands its film universe with a new type of super hero: "Thor." This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth."
This is going to be epically bad. Sorry, but dropping LOTR into the modern day is going to look r****ded no matter how it's done. This movie will go over slightly better than the Dolph Lundgren powered He-Man movie. How the hell is not going to look r****ded with this dude shooting laser beams out of sledge hammer. Let's just hope the guy has ridiculous one-liners like The Thing in Fantastic Four. "It's hammer time!"
