i didn't read it, and enjoyed the movie. it's not on a 'greatest of all time' level' but is enjoyable if you like fantasy type movies. if you're looking for a comic book movie along the lines of spiderman or the x-men, you'll be disappointed.
i read the graphic novel before seeing the movie and was excited to see how they would turn it into a movie. the movie was good but not great. personally, i liked the book better than the movie. they definitely need to edit the movie and cut out like 20 minutes cuz it was too long. it seemed like some of the violence was a little gratuitous and unnecessary too. the previews before the movie were pretty good though. i can't wait for terminator 4!
I liked that it was about relationships between people and not superpowers. People might have liked it more if it had been more eye candy and an excessive cast coughxmen3cough but it told a great story. No character was wasted. I wish I had walked into a comic shop when I was a kid and told whichever supernerd working the counter "give me something good." I read way too many mainstream titles growing up and missed out on a lot of good stuff because of it. I wasn't crazy about any of Moore's other stuff and wasn't expecting to like this. I loved it.
So did you take the 8 year old? The number of kids/babies at the showing I went to was ridiculous. Wonder what their parents were thinking during the Spoiler rape, dog killing, compound fracture, dismemberment, oil to face, cleaver to skull, shooting pregnant woman, sex, multiple blue penises, etc. scenes.
I watched the movie today, and I was hoping high but came out feeling....meh. To me, it focused way too much on the relationships, and built strong connections in the movie, but I think for the first time ever Im going to say it was just too much. The only great part of the movie to me was the warshack (sp?) parts and especially the prison scene. Seeing naked boobs in a comic movie was nice, seeing so much blue JUNK was not so nice.
Rorschach, named after the guy who made the psych test that he was taking in the prison. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rorschach_inkblot_test His mask is a Rorschach inkblot, if that wasn't obvious, as was the Spoiler blood stain from his death
anybody had a hard time understanding the movie? this is the first time in my life i came out of a movie theater all confused i have not read the novel before tho... and maybe i was too concentrated on the porno
If this movie is worse than a bunch of half naked Greek men speaking with english accents killing each other, I don't think I will even bother renting it.
how old are you? you may want to skip the following titles, if this one confused you. mulholland drive eraserhead donnie darko momento
that wasn't an easy movie to understand. try lost highway if you want to be confused <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DMWMCbQxEsE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DMWMCbQxEsE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
What a noob theres no "the" it's just Watchmen and i saw it in IMAX yesterday, good movie, bit long, some dragged on. My only problem with it was the music. Nothing wrong with the music itself, it just did not fit at all with the scenes. Bob Dylan in the beginning was about the only song that fit. That hallelujah song during the sex scene ruined it, and made it laughable. and All along the watchtower didn't fit at all towards the end when they arive in the snow... Serious question: Is Zack Snyder gay? 300 and watchmen are supposed to be dude films but i cant help but think of the excessive gayness in his films....hmm...oh well still good films.
