'The Oxygen to Gold bit' was presented much better in the book. It was actually one of my favorite parts of the book.
Great movie. The most disappointing was some choice of songs and the awful soundtrack. God awful soundtrack.
Spoiler I believe the "Squid" ending would be a much better choice. The Alien invasion would be a more ideal/very effective way to unite the world.
Harsh, but I've got to agree with you. droxford, it's one thing to say that you didn't like the plot or thought it was overrated or whatever. But to say that Silk Spectre II, the Comedian, Nite Owl, the pirate ship side-story, etc. contributed nothing is to say that you missed a whole lot, that it went over your head or whatever. In brief, look at the shipwrecked sailor in his story in parallel to what is happening in the main story, and his loss of humanity / twisting of morality in connection with Ozymandius's degree of the same. Look at the Comedian, Nite Owl, and Silk Spectre II in terms of their own morality, their individual world views, and their reactions to what is going on around them, especially Ozy's plot. They are all complex characters in their own ways, more than what is seen on the surface.
FYI everyone.....this is out on DVD and BLU RAY today. Apparently there is a directors cut that has about half an hour more of footage in it.
I already stole the director's cut. It doesn't really do much to add to the story in my opinion. I'm still mad about the squid.
i am going to pick it up too i saw the best buy ad showing a blu-ray DC and also a blu-ray DC "collectors edition" that was like 34 bucks...anyone know what the difference between the two is?
I don't know saw that as well, think there is probably some "limited" collectible included from the looks of it. I would probably pass because in November, I think, the super edition comes out, 6 disk set with pretty much everything you could ever want on it. When you buy this edition they give you a 10 dollar off coupon for the super set, its something for sucker like me who can't help themselves with new releases.
unless the super set is an even longer DC i doubt i would want it...i seen the other blu-rays that came out (assume those would be in it) but i own the graphic novel not sure what else i would want outside of that if i have the DC blu-ray already
It is a longer cut with the Black Freighter comic merged into the movie, like the Graphic Novel First Watchmen Ultimate Collector's Edition Blu-ray Details July 08, 2009 Today I received Warner Home Video's upcoming Watchmen: Director's Cut on Blu-ray Disc and immediately removed the cool lenticular slipcover to tear into the package and see if there were any unexpected goodies inside. One item of interest tucked beneath a BD-Live guide is a small flier promoting Warner's upcoming Ultimate Collector's Edition of Watchmen. Up until now all we've know about this set is that it is coming later this year and will be bigger than the director's cut and probably a lot cooler. Now thanks to this flier we know the set is coming in December and will span a whopping 5 discs! For reference, the director's cut set is three discs, one of which is dedicated to the standard definition digital copy. The flier also reveals there will be a new commentary track from director Zack Snyder and Dave Gibbons, 2+ hours of bonus content including Hollis Mason's Tell All "Under the Hood," and the complete Watchmen Motion Comics. The most intriguing addition is Tales of the Black Freighter will be "woven into" the director's cut of watchmen for an all-new creative cut of the film. It is an intriguing concept but I hope the director's cut is also available sans the Black Freighter for those who will be passing on this initial Watchmen Blu-ray release. The last bit of news garnered from the flier is a $10 off the Watchmen: Ultimate Collector's Edition on Blu-ray coupon for anyone who registers with WB Insider Rewards. Sounds like a no-brainer if this set is on your radar. Check out the front and back of the flier below and if you haven't already, pre-order Watchmen on Blu-ray at Amazon.com. http://www.thehdroom.com/news/First_Watchmen_Ultimate_Collectors_Edition_Blu-ray_Details/5198
