I like the idea of making Mario an actual Italian, though it's weird that he'd be speaking English in that case. But then, English is the language used in the Mushroom Kingdom realm, for some unknown reason. Alright -- I see I'm trying to logic my way through this, and that's utterly pointless, lol.
Man they are cooking this movie. First reactions saying they are surprised it was bad.. welp. in before people saying there is an agenda against Mario and they dont trust critics. those trailers look so good too. sad day.
People get so bent out of shape about critics. Critics hate those minions movies but that's a billion dollar franchise people seem to love for some reason. Just because they are critical of a movie doesn't make it less fun. Bad movies can be fun. Back in the day we had nothing but bad fun (action) movies that were awful. Fun movies can be critically bad.
We’re a review driven consumer society. These critics are out of touch with what matters to most people. But their ratings affect the box office and viewership, meaning that sequels or similar movies have less of a chance of being made. See below: 95% Audience Score right now. Got my tickets for Friday, taking the kids.
A bad review is not going to stop anyone from going out to watch what they want to watch. A good review is not going to make people rush out to go see a movie either. We have seen that forever with low performing Oscar movies to high performing Minion movies. Mario is doing well because everyone wants to see it. A bad review means nothing. if a trash movie makes money it's going to get a sequel.
I remember Siskel & Ebert reviewing Super Troopers and just crapping all over it, so I never cared about seeing it until one day a buddy shows up at the house with the DVD. They were wrong...so, so wrong.
