Watched the movie and thought it was good. I was thinking about this the whole way home...

What to stock up on the following in case of an apocalypse road trip:

    1. 1 Pistol/1 rifle/1 short shotgun (anymore is a waste) couple of boxes of amo.
    2. First Aid Kit with alot of bandages.
    3. A wind-up powered flashlight.
    4. Lots of canned food and water(enough to fit in a cart).
    5. Heavy laminated map. GPS is probably useless.
    6. Survival knife
    7. Flint lighting kit.

the pistol should be reliable, takes 17 rounds mags and a 9mm. solely for last resort, the smaller caliber allows for more rounds and easier to handle for the kid.

the rifle should take .308 rounds for punch, with a scope... for when those pesky cannibal come searching for you in the woods.

the shotgun should be sawed off for close spaces, 12 gauge pump action (more reliable than a semi-automatic). At least 8 rounds in tube. This would've took care of everyone in the plantation house. stock is also sawed off so it's short enough to hang on side with a strap.

i thought about an assault rifle but you can only comfortable carry so much. you don't want to put it on the cart in case someone steals it. the thief can use it against you.

I just finished watching this earlier today. I felt this was the best film I saw this year. Was it nominated for anything?

I don't think so. I was a bit disappointed by the movie personally. Although I thought the kid was pretty good.

I thought this was definitely one of the better movies of the year (that I saw). Love the music by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis as well.

Where did you watch it? Is it on Bluray? I've been meaning to check it out.

    Great movie, great book.

I just put in an offer on a house that is about two minutes away from where the beach scenes were filmed.

Just rented this movie. My goodness, this was one of the bleakest movies I have ever seen. It really depressed me and had a pretty profound impact after I finished watching it. I guess that goes to show you that it is a really good movie or else it would not have kept me thinking about it.

If you have not seen it yet, I definitely recommend it.

Going to have to read the book for my English class in about 1.5 weeks. Heard it (both book and movie) were amazing.

I read the book based on a friend's recommendation, and then watched the movie last week. To be honest I was a little let down with both. I think I just expected too much.

I liked the general tone, style and writing of the book/movie, but i found the story to be underwhelming. The only major problem i have with the story is the kid. The way the kid is written, you'd expect him to have been living a pampered existence his entire life, instead of having grown up in a bleak harsh tough and unforgiving environment. Thats probly the least self sufficient, most annoying sissy 11-12 yr old boy in the history of man kind. After awhile i found myself rooting for the father to put him out of his misery shoot him or himself lol.

The ending doesn't fit the rest of the movie... and kind of cheapens it. i mean really, you find the perfect family with a pet dog to boot. wow. i understand the need for an uplifting ending after all of that.. but there are a lot of better ways of doing it that are more in line with the rest of the movie.

what makes you think the family isn't about to eat the boy? as the father said, why have a dog? how do they possibly keep it fed?
