Pure, unadulterated, badassery coming to a theater near you March 23, 2012. I do agree with youtube comment that Sony screwed up the title. Should have kept it as is, The Raid. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/PkULMOFpuCo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Yeah I've been dying to see this movie.. This is pure martial arts badassery to the highest degree.. If you love Hong Kong bone crunching cinema/ Tony Jaa's Ong Bak or action in general, then this is the movie for you.. That Silat form is freaking brutal, and how did you see this film?? Did you catch it in Austin??
Merantau felt like Ong Bak's younger brother and Iko looks exactly like Tony Jaa, I enjoyed it quite a bit but you could see some of the choreography needed a little more work or crisp as you say... This Welch Director 2nd film looks like a huge huge improvement..

I was fortunate enough to see the premier at SXSW last month. I cannot express how amazing this movie was. I'm hoping this comes to blu-ray as I would like to support this movie in any way possible. I'm a big movie nerd and I have seen a long list of martial art/action films but nothing that kept me engaged and in awe like this movie did. Each fight scene ups the ante and is significantly more intense than the last leading you to the incredible climax fight. The story isn't half bad either. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy!
@Rocket1, Was this song during the end credits?? It fits the movie pretty well... <iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="http://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F39986438&show_artwork=true"></iframe>
To be completely honest I dont quite remember what was playing during the credits. Mike S, the director Gareth and the other guy who did the music did a short Q&A immediately after the film ended and in between the film ending and their Q&A the auditorium was pretty loud with cheers and clapping. This movie makes you want to jump out of your seat and cheer when the credits roll. (That or start an epic martial art battle with the dude sitting three seats down.)
