Late to the party but finally got around to watching the DVD. Nice movie but I have a couple of questions. Spoiler What caused Danton to go to Tesla? I know that the twins secret code word in the book was "Tesla" but why did it force him to go? Did the twins know that Tesla was creating a cloning device? If so, why were they so worried about how the trick was performed? I figured out the twins part, and also that he was killing himself each time but still can't figure out what sent him to Tesla. Also, how did Hugh Jackman's character know not to appear on the balconey on that last night in order to frame his rival for murder? Good move 3 stars. DD
Spoiler The Borden twins had had dealings with Tesla before, but just for some cool effects as seen in one of their shows. I suspect that in their dealings, they figured out what Tesla was working and that he needed money. They probably thought that it could never work and that Tesla was mad. So they led Angier to Tesla believing he would spend all his money and get nothing in return. If Angier really believed that this was the way the trick was done, he'd be inclined to bankrupt himself getting the technology for himself. Angier must have known his plan was working and was on the look out. He recognized Borden (or intentionally had him chosen) and knew that this was the time to go along with the final plan. The new duplicate would have this memory and wouldn't appear on the balcony.
