What's the big deal with product placement? I mean, E.T. pimped Reeces Pieces and Speak and Spell pretty hard.
^ Product placement really never bothered me all that much until this movie. I understand if there is some sort of reason to put them in the film, but this movie had upclose shots bottles of Aquifina and Michelob for no reason and they had the blonde chick serving ice cream in the middle of the movie?
WEEKEND ESTIMATES 1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory $28,300,000 2. Wedding Crashers $26,200,000 3. Fantastic Four $12,275,000 4. The Island $12,100,000 5. Bad News Bears $11,500,000 http://boxofficemojo.com/ Damn.
Looks like Michael Bay is falling on his ass without Big Daddy Bruckheimer to help him... ...and moviegoers better get used to the product placement. I think it will become more and more common in movies in order to offset production costs, since fewer people are going to the movies these days. I doubt that ticket prices can be raised much more. oh yeah, and the producers of ET originally asked M&Ms to be in the movie, but were turned down...Reeces Pieces was their second choice...
For a good movie to check out go see Bad News Bears. If you're a fan of Bad Santa and the original then you'll like this movie.
Echoing the statements of others, I also felt that the storyline of the movie was pretty good, and it made me think what I would do if I were in a similar situation. However, Bay could have done a better job of executing everything. And yes, I also noticed the blatant product placement.
