It was really great, haven't bought the DVD yet. My only complaint was the very end where they show
him going back. I think him looking totally lost in the grocery store really hit the point home that he is more comfortable over there and that he is a junkie for the adrenaline as well.

Personally I found that the best bit
because it brought me right back to the beginning of the film, where they show the quote that War is a drug, and the ending showed him coming right back for more

Did this just come out in theaters at the end of 09? I watched i believe way in the beginning of 09 or even earlier if i remember correctly(torrent), must have been released in Europe early. Anyway it was a very good movie.

Two thumbs up ... saw it a little less than a week ago. Really intense and felt pretty realistic.

AWESOME flick on Blueray. I watched it this past weekend after hearing about it on Howard Stern. Great intense movie, one of the most realistic shows about the situation in Iraq without going overboard. I wasn't a big fan of the ending, but the whole movie kept me on the edge of my seat. Big fan!

I saw this in the theater this summer, I thought it was good but a bit contrary to most, I thought the handheld camera was WAY overused to the point where it actually made me dizzy. Maybe it doesn't come across the same way on blu-ray/TV set viewing.

I mean to use it during an action sequence is one thing, but to shake it around relentlessly when the guy is shopping for cereal in the costco was really annoying to me in the theater; odd because I usually don't get affected by that stuff.

I saw this a few days ago and thought it was fantastic. One of the best movies I've seen in a while.

The "war is a drug" quote does hold true to a lot of those guys. I have several friends that have been to Iraq and Afghanistan only to want to go back and be right back in the middle of the action again. My best friend came back last year from Iraq and now he wants to ship out to Afghanistan so he can have a tour in each. He was on convoy security details riding around in a hummer very much like the one they roll in, in the movie. They were hit by and IED twice, but he still wants to go back and do it all over again.

Watched this on Friday, and it's had a couple of days to jangle around in my head.

I watched it because I heard on the radio it was the person who directed Point Break, which I loved.

Granted, I don't watch a ton of drama. I like action and sci-fi movies. But it's not up there with recent greats like There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men.

Worth a watch, but I won't be upset if it doesn't win any awards.

I watched this a few months ago at the theater pretty much based on this thread and how much people raved about it.

But, I was pretty bored and didn't enjoy it at all. Just seemed like the same thing over and over again. From what I remember, there was a part where he was acting crazy with a couple of guys in his unit and wanted ride one of them. It was very awkward.

That's just my opinion. But, looks like I'm in the minority. LOL!!

I heard comparisons with this movie and jarhead, but after watching it, I don't know what they were talking about.

This is a really good movie while Jarhead was crap.

Other than it being based in Iraq and on a soldier there, there are no similarities that I see. In fact, it was an entirely different war. People are dumb.
