The cast is still not set but as of right now it's for sure: Jason Statham Sylvester Stallone Jet Li Micky Rourke Dolph Lundgren Randy Couture !!! Forest Whitaker and from I have read, trying to get Arnie in a cameo role. This may be the greatest action cast ever. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1320253/
I heard that Rourke is not officially definite yet as another movie he recently signed on with (Iron Man 2) might effect his availability.
Just heard about this movie. They should have called it 'Action Orgasm' Good Fansite Casting from above fansite: Sylvester Stallone is Barney Ross aka The Schizo, a veteran Expendable and leader of the team. Jason Statham is Lee Christmas, a British-American Expendable and second in command of the team. He is a former S.A.S. soldier and expert at close quarters combat using knives Mickey Rourke is Tool, a former Expendable, now an arms dealer and tattoo parlor artist/owner who helps the Expendables. Jet Li is Bao Thao, a Vietnamese-American Expendable and an expert at hand-to-hand combat. Dolph Lundgren is Gunnar Jensen, a Swedish-American Expendable and expert at sniping, also a war veteran. He eventually goes a bit rogue and winds up fighting Jet Li in the film. Terry Crews is Hale Caesar, Bao's best friend, also a weapons specialist. He is deadly with his automatic shotgun and will serve as some of the comedy relief, though the film is said to have a ton of funny moments from everyone else as well. Eric Roberts is Monroe, a corrupt C.I.A. agent who is preventing the Expendables from killing General Garza. Steve Austin is Dan Paine, Monroe's bodyguard and a former Marine. Randy Couture is Toll Road, an Expendable and demolitions expert. Also deadly in close quarters. David Zayas is General Garza, the evil dictator. Arnold Schwarzenegger has a cameo role as a retired Lieutenant General of the Expendables. Bruce Willis has a cameo role as Church. The plans are to film Arnold, Sly, and Bruce together in Los Angeles for their scene, the first ever to have all 3 in one film. Cast from IMDB (Notice that Arnold is in there too)
No Steven Seagal...? inexcusable.. Spoiler <object width="640" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nkskuSXqUD0&autoplay=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nkskuSXqUD0&autoplay=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="505"></embed></object>
They should try to shoehorn in more cameos from Jackie Chan, Dwyane Johnson, Segal, Van Damme, and Wesley Snipes. Hell, I'd probably go overboard and have Hulk Hogan and Nic Cage in there somewhere if I was in charge.
Michael Bay can take some lessons from Mr. Stallone on how to make an action movie.. Any of you guys remember the movie Cliffhanger? Better than anything Bay has ever done...
Van Damme was approached about being in the movie and he declined because with JCVD he was trying to get his acting career on a different track. Or maybe because the guy is insane. I would love to see Dwayne Johnson in this, but that's just because I think The Rock could be the next big time action movie star in the vein of Arnold back in the day, but for some reason he never really caught on in those type of movies. The Rundown was freaking awesome but very underseen. And as for Steven Seagal, I don't think anyone in Hollywood really likes that guy. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the only reason he ever got many parts in movies was because he had ties to the mob. He certainly can't act for ****.
A new Rambo movie has been given the green light also. Regarding Expendables, I heard Van Damme say he talked to Sly and Sly would not give him any info on the type of character or the amount of lines he would have so he declined for fear of undermining his new, more serious direction as an actor.
Jet Li is Bao Thao, a Vietnamese-American Expendable Why not a Chinese-American? Is he going to speak Vietnamese or is he going to speak in Chinese and let the "dumb" audience think that he is speaking in Vietnamese?
first trailer's out <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ttc84BFlMWs&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ttc84BFlMWs&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> btw, I heard it got pushed back from April to Aug, to bank on being the last major summer hit of the summer as seen from years past (Superbad/Pineapple Express/GI Joe)
