I thought his performance was pretty haunting. Plus the movie was hilarious in a twisted way. There were a couple somewhat cheesy parts - like the plastic bag thing, but I came away from that movie saying, 'wow.'

    Please complete the following survey:

    Are you:

    Known around the world?
Have more money than you want or need?
Considered to be one of the best looking men in the USA?
Married to an incredibly hot, famous piece of ass who you know rocks in the sack?
    In top physical shape?
Someone at the top of your respective career field?
Able to get nearly any woman you want?

If you are able to answer yes to all of these, then yes, you are way above Brad Pitt and I do sincerely apologize. :p

oh man I hope he gets paid well. The voices were brutal, specifically the little girl.

I thought the movie was well-made, in appearance. Story was meant to be cute and intriguing and it just wasn't. I felt it was bland, as if there was truly no point to it. The short story was amusing, but I just can't fathom how a short story could drag on for nearly 3 hours.

God it was hard to sit through. Would have been much better if they just took a more light-hearted approach versus an oddly serious and surreal Big Fish-ish flick.

Not awful, not all that amusing either. Overall just pointless.

The gf wants to see it (big surprise). She can see it all she wants, just not with me. There's no way in hell I'm watching this, it looks absolutely boring.

    Are you:

    Known around the world?

I'm an internet superstar, so yes.......

Have more money than you want or need?

I already have everything I ever want and need

Considered to be one of the best looking men in the USA?

It's not even funny how incredibly good lookin I am

Married to an incredibly hot, famous piece of ass who you know rocks in the sack?

    except for famous, yes.

    In top physical shape?

better than some, worst than most

Someone at the top of your respective career field?

    acting is a respected career?

Able to get nearly any woman you want?

I already have the only woman I have ever wanted

if this is how you define a man, then I totally win, all these attributes are superficial, that......and I have never cheated on my wife. Jolie is a loon......If Aniston was my wife, no way I'd leave her for that crazy twit. ;)

I'm not really speechless after reading this - just more stunned, really. It reminds me of the Mark Twain quote: "It is better to keep your mouth shut ..."

I'm with him...after getting the Aniston Rolling Stone..I wouldn't trade J.A for A.J...hell Angelina Jolie was crazy for Billy Bob Thornton who looks a lot more like me than he does Brad Pitt.

I personally thought the movie got extremely boring in the middle. One of the interesting things with the movie was how they tied in Katrina. I was a bit disappointed in how it ended though. I'd give it a solid 7.5 out of 10.

Saw it yesterday with my son and two of his cousins. Thought it was great fun. I love period pieces anyway. I was afaid that the end would descend into a corny parody but they pulled it off pretty well.

i don't see how anyone is connecting this story to Forrest Gump, besides the screenwriter. I mean it was directed by David Fincher and stars Brad Pitt, it must be exactly like Fight Club, right?

for the other three people who actually saw this film and aren't speculating whether it is overrated or had a lasting impression like American Beauty; did anyone get a Forrest Gump vibe? that was honestly the last thing I thought of when I saw TCCOBB. what is "that Gump structure"?

because this is one yarn of a story about a guy who ages backwards. not really a box of chocolates. i am guessing people compare the relationship with the little girl from childhood into old age, the strong relationship with the mother and returning home to the South from all his adventures. it didn't really have an historical aspect like Gump did, besides the Katrina connection. there was that brief period on the tugboat when they were attacked during the war.

i guess after typing it all down I can see what people are going for as far as comparisons go, but I think it's a bit of a stretch.

as far as structure, it reminded me more of Titanic
(with Daisy on her deathbed telling the story to her daughter)

it was a reflective tale that was brilliantly crafted, bringing up life and death and the people that enter our lives and make an impact at different times in our lives. it made me think about taking every opportunity and making the most of it...

such a sad ending that they couldn't be together forever. Button knew this and had to leave her so that their daughter could have a father.

The City of New Orleans shines in this film as a central character in the story, from 1918 through Hurricane Katrina

Anyone here seen "Little Big Man" with Dustin Hoffman? It's constructed similarly without the surreality.

I thought it was cookie cutter close.

Gump/Button is an outcast during his childhood unlike other children, has only a single child friend during this period, and is restricted by a physical disability affecting his mobility. The character is a perpetual "innocent" with an amoral outlook and is non-judgemental.

    Low IQ = old age

Gump had polio and wore leg braces. Button was old and needed a wheelchair then later a leg brace and crutch.

Both had strong mother figures in their lives.

Gump/Button had war experiences where he keeps his word to a fallen comrade. Gump gives Bubba's family his share of the shrimp business. Button sends the money entrusted to him by his shipmate to his family.

Jenny/Daisy is the childhood sweetheart who loses her way when she becomes a young woman. During this period she rejects Gump/Button and sleeps around without conscience.

In both stories the lovers are seperated as one party breaks their union over concerns about the couple's child. Jenny leaves because she is afraid her son will be like Gump. Button fears his unborn child might be like him then later leaves because he doesn't want to be a burden or a cauue of sadness for his daughter.

There is a short lived happy re-union. Jenny returns to Gump because she is dying. Button sees his daughter and makes love with Daisy one last time before he becomes a child.

    White feather = hummingbird

Does anyone know how the short story compares to the screenplay because F. Scott Fitzgerald didn't age backwards!!

    way too long.

ovbiously, you have to be willing to accept the reverse aging as the fantastical element. so that's a given.

but the 10 minutes of the backward clock bit has no relevance to the story.

the hurricane looming had no bearing on the story.

way too many flash forwards to the hospital.

the daughter seems way too unaware of her mother's life. i mean 43 years before she had a kid and you know nothing of that time about your own mother? what about that huge scar on her leg?

seems as though pitt could have spent almost all of the kid's formative years as her father, rather than traveling the world barely seeming to reverse age.

the mother goes to live with this kid from when he was effectively 6 or so until death and the daughter knows nothing of that either?
the whole thing just seemed too contrived and not very well executed, IMO.

Did anyone else think the Pygmy guy looked like a little Terrell Owens?
