Feige has already mentioned in interviews that they will be introducing additional characters for the sequel. However, his interviews also indicated that the solo franchises would not be mini-Avenger films, that each of the heroes would go their separate ways. Iron Man 3, specifically, is being talked about as an "anti-Avengers" film, where Stark will be completely on his own. James Rhodes is still around, so War Machine should pop up at some point, but don't bank on it being Iron Man & Friends. Thor is going to feature Asgard, Loki, and a new villain (Enchantress is what I'd bet) but no Avengers. Captain America is the most likely to have some side characters like Shield, but no Iron Man or Thor or Hulk. They just gave Ruffalo a 6-film contract, but have also stated a 3rd Hulk film isn't showing up until 2015 at the earliest. Johansson and Renner are all for Widow/Hawkeye feature film(s), but official word has been mum there. There has been talk about a Nick Fury film, but it's been a 3 on a "going to happen" scale of 1-10. Ant-Man, Dr Strange, and Black Panther are the most likely new Avenger solo films, but Marvel has been very slow to greenlight filming on any - Ant-Man has been ready to go for a couple years already. Guardians of the Galaxy (surprisingly) seems like the favorite to be the second 2014 film, and I personally think it's the most likely landing spot for Thanos. I think they'll continue the neat concept of Easter Egging the solo films to drop seeds for future films and the Avengers sequel, but I'm guessing the cameos are going to be dialed back.
I agree Jay, I think they should do a Shield, espionage based movie with Hawkeye, Widow and Fury. Go off the beaten path with a story and do a serious espionage type film to develop Widow/Hawkeye/Fury to make them more appealing characters. I HATE that Fox and Marvel have separate film rights, because I would absolutely love the next Hulk movie to be based on the Canadian government trying to take out the Hulk in Canada and sending in Wolverine.
I think Captain America 2 should include Hawkeye, Black Widow and Fury. No need to give them their own movie. Captain America cant stand all that well solo anyways. Either that or move away from SHIELD a little. No need for SHIELD to play a huge role right now. These guys are becoming legit heroes now.
I'm not too optimistic. http://www.reelz.com/movie-news/137...robert-downey-jr-not-quitting-tony-stark-yet/ http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00050369.html Reading between the lines, it sounds like they want to make Cap2 a Shield movie. Marvel doesn't want to overreach with the solo franchises and find themselves to far upcreek financially should the genre bubble burst on them. They seem to be set on only 2 films a year, and that leaves you with either a limited number of solo films before an Avengers sequel, or Avengers 2 coming out 5 years later. I don't see them waiting any longer than 3 years for the second one, so that gives you about 5 films to work with in between. Given that they want to introduce other folks, I suspect that Widow, Fury, and Hawk get consolidated into Captain America.
I'm fine with that, but I wish they'd fix Cap's uniform. It looks so cheesy on screen in my opinion. Of all the characters in all the comic movies I feel he has translated to the big screen the worst in terms of costume. Pretty hard to believe that Batman and Thor look better on screen than Captain America.
Shouldn't be that hard to believe, dude is sporting american colors and a stars. And Batman and Thor have a cape, makes a difference. On the solo movies, no character should have a solo movie if they can't carry one, I hope they don't force solo movies just cause, and for money or to introduce a new character that might not be worth it.
But... that's his costume. I hate when they try to update costumes for no reason (X-Men 1-3). Just a personal thing I guess but if you do it do it accurately.
I wouldn't mind seeing a SHIELD movie but one problem I can see with this type of franchise is that the tone / rating of all of the movies has to be relatively close. Basically like Iron Man with PG-13 violence and humor mixed in with the action. Anyone who saw the Hurt Locker knows that Jeremy Renner is outstanding playing a brooding troubled character and it would be great to see him playing Hawkeye that way. It would be cool to see Scarlett Johansen playing Black Widow as a true femme fatale where she isn't just kicking ass but using her sexuality as a weapon. Basically I think a movie focusing around those two characters would work better as a dark action / drama along the lines of the Bourne movies but that might clash with bringing back to a PG-13 Avengers' movie. To fit in with the tone of the other Avengers' movies I suspect a SHIELD movie will be more along the lines of a Roger Moore James Bond where there is a lot of focus on gadgets and clever quips rather than drama. That could work out but with these actors it seems like you could do more.
I agree. The thing that bothered me about it was that the colors seem too saturated so they appear almost flat. It kind of reminded me of the old polyester uniforms for baseball teams and flight attendants that used to be popular in the 1970's.
They could do a great costume. Look at Spidey's. For years Cap's costume had this subtle overlapping fish-scale armor look. I think that would translate well.
Agreed about Captain, and for me, it's not just the costume. His personality was borderline nails-to-chalkboard annoying. They've got to fix it, because right now, he's borderline Barney Fife.
My issue isn't with the costume, it's with how it is translated on screen. I don't think they did a good job designing it for the screen. It looks very rubbery and cheesy.
