That's the rumor. I doubt money was a huge issue. Ruffalo did a fine job. The change didn't cause any issues.
DKR will have trouble reaching the wide demo that Avengers did like other have mentioned. Also, the 3D ticket sales help greatly as well. For the first time in over a decade I have seen a movie twice in theaters, I saw Avengers opening day in 2D and saw it Monday in 3D. It had a few moments through out and the last 30 minutes was amazing in 3D. The technology has really progressed, I can't imagine what it will be like in a few years. The spidey trailer looked like they did a great job with use of 3D, too bad the movie will prolly suck.
Wow, that's actually really surprising. He's a great actor... didn't know he had an attitude. Probably similar to Christian Bale? As good as Ruffalo was as the Hulk, I don't know if he could be that good in his own Hulk movie. He's great as a piece of a puzzle in the Avengers movie, but I still think Norton has him beat as the main character in a Hulk movie.
I think he wanted the ability to influence the direction of Avengers. I hope he sees Avengers, realizes he couldn't do any better and apologizes for being a prick.
Oh that's a pretty douche move. Maybe because he know Stark was the main guy in the Avengers and he wanted to hold the torch more?
I don't think that's the case, or it shouldn't have been. Joss Whendon gave all of the main players an opportunity to offer input. Sam Jackson merely said 'I don't want to run.'
I liked Norton better, but...Ruffalo is Banner/Hulk now, and he did a great job. More specifically I meant the character itself, the 2012 Hulk looks better. Although I was fond of the version in Incredible Hulk too. Ferrigno was also the voice of Hulk in Incredible Hulk/Avengers.
Initially Norton had some issues with the final script of Incredible Hulk. He made a lot of re-writes to the script, and I guess the director changed a cut or two he didn't like...and so he pouted. He gave them ability to adlib (Downey Jr.), or input on their running (Sam Jackson), but Norton was actually deciding the script and direction of the film with Incredible Hulk.
Not sure about Avengers, but the Norton-Marvel rift was definitely about Norton wanting creative control. In The Incredible Hulk, Norton pushed a lot of rewrites (and honestly, they weren't bad calls), which annoyed Marvel. He didn't get his way in post-production editting, was upset about the final theatrical cut, went prima donna, and refused to promote its release. When he did that, Marvel dumped him and dropped in the barbs about collaborative spirit. http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20191802,00.html http://screenrant.com/edward-norton-hulk-avengers-schrad-67833/
And personally, while Norton's film was a big step up from the warm diarrhea that Ang Lee directed, I can't say I missed him at all in Avengers. Ruffalo nailed it, and had outstanding chemistry with everyone.
I liked Ruffalo better. He was very unsure of himself, played with his hands a lot, would make smart ass comments under his breath, a perfect Banner.
On one hand, it's a shame they didn't have Edward Norton. I liked him as Bruce Banner, I liked that movie. And it would have been fun to watch him in scenes with Downey Jr. Still, Ruffalo acquitted himself very well, so no real complaints here.
I loved, it was awesome, what else can I add that hasn't already been said? As hard as it was to balance all these characters, I don't think anyone could have done it better than Whedon, considering the time limit and the preceding stories already told. Best comic book movie yet. Tough to compare it to TDK because they are such different films with different aims, but I'd give the edge to The Avengers. I highly doubt DKR surpasses this at the box office. Avengers has much broader appeal. At the same time I don't think anyone wants a broader DKR to match it. Just having these 2 movies in the same year is incredible for comics. Marvel Studios is owning Warner Brothers (DC) overall. 3d wasn't absolutely necessary, but it didn't detract (unlike many others when it's done poorly). It didn't really add much in many parts but in some scenes it was great, so overall it's a net positive. I couldn't wait to see how Hulk stole the show after reading so many people sharing this sentiment. I was tepid on the last 2 Hulk movies and wondered how it would change. But I couldn't agree more. Ruffalo was awesome, as is Whedon's angle on the character. I'm not sure how this Hulk would carry an entire movie though. Believe me, I want him to, but why he worked so well was because he was playing off of other characters in the Avengers and as comic relief, including the single best moment of the movie. Finally...who knew Iron Man would have spawned all this? I remember the thread here before it came out and many were doubtful. But it knocked it out of the park and gave Marvel the momentum and confidence to get to this point. Pretty amazing balls and vision to go after it like this.
I just fapped to this information. Any chance there would be cameos or maybe even big involvements of other Avengers members in the solo movies?
