I plan on seeing it on Imax later, if not this next week. I would like to take the gf to see it as well. So maybe 3 times in theaters? And definitely countless times once it's on DVD.
Question.. Spoiler Why does Hulk chase Scarlett when the whole time he could control himself turning into the Hulk and control who he wants to fight? The end of the Ed Norton Hulk even showed he was capable of turning it on whenver he wanted. But in that part she was trying to talk him down and he turned into the Hulk and he attacked her.
He was Spoiler under the influence of loki. remember when banner grabbed the staff without realizing it?
it was pretty good.....worth the admission fee. The one thing I didn't like was how they had Hulk moving like a gorilla sometimes.
For those well versed in Marvelism, is Hawkeye pretty insignificant in the cartoons and/or comics? Is his story boring or something?
Damn!!! At 200 million budget I say they made their money back and then some. Imagine what it would be like if they have gotten the avatar budget at 500 mil? Hulk would smash every major cities in the u.s. and we would have a black widow nude scene.
Hawkeye, by his nature as a relatively ordinary human, is going to be less important than say Thor, who is a god. Having said that, he has been leader of the Avengers, leader of the Thunderbolts, a villain, another hero called Ronin, a big player in quite a few world spanning events, a carny, and much more. The problem is that it is hard to translate what he has done in hundreds of appearances in various books to movie like story arcs. He tends not to have the individualized enemies that the Hulk, Captain America, Spider-man, Thor, etc. have as a result of only having very limited runs on his own books (four or five books that ran 4-8 issues apiece.
Anyone who read Whedon's X-Men probably expected solid dialogue and good character interaction. He definitely delivered. The banter was on point. The humor - clever. Subtle setups with fulfilling payoffs - there. Character interaction - relatively true to the comics. The action, the story, the visual direction and constant scene-to-scene cuts - it was like reading a comic. Wish Whedon could direct all the Marvel movies and write all the Marvel comics. So glad they didn't try to "humanize" this series like Fox? tries to do with X-Men. The reason people love these movies is because they were great characters and stories to begin with and they will always be. Staying true the science fictiony and unbelievable nature of the stories works just fine. Maybe I had low expectations. Didn't think it could be done. But Whedon nailed the character interaction, all those heros on screen, it works and it pays off big.
I hated the 3D UNTIL it became "flat". At first its too much of a schock. Too much of a gimmick. Once it becomes subtle, that's when it works.
He pops up quite a bit, but fits more in the Daredevil tier of guys. The biggest thing he brings to the table is his personality. He's something of an ass with a short fuse...but in a good way. He's got no issues telling Captain America to shove it. He's got anger issues and a tendency to break off and do his own thing. It helps as a counter to Cap's goody two shoes routine. He may be the one guy they didn't come close to properly translating in the film.
Saw it twice in 24 hours. Well worth it. Spoiler Many are saying that Captain America was useless. However, I don't think so. I think they used him just right, especially at the end when he was leading the Avengers by directing them in the fight. He was after all, a WWII hero. He definitely earned the right to lead them. In my opinion the Hulk stole the show. It took a while for us to see Banner turn into the Hulk, but the wait was well worth it. Thor reminded me of how awesome he really is. He's probably my favorite super hero.
