After catching 25 movies and 2 short programs over the last week at the Austin Film Festival, there were a handful of really good movies. But...there was one GREAT movie, The Artist. Do whatever you can to see it when it makes it's way to the theaters. It's in black and white...and it's a silent movie...but I'm thinking it'll also be a Best Picture winner at the Oscars. Absolutely incredible. Original. Funny. Why we go to the movies. Trailer: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/O8K9AZcSQJE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
This movie is SOOOOOO good! I was wary when I heard it was a silent/B&W movie but it was so much more creative and exciting than that. The trailer doesn't do it justice. Beautifully written and acted. Jean Dujardin deserves an Oscar.
I like the odds on the initial Best Winner prediction (incidentally well prior to it's release or other hype). Any thoughts as to whether it's deserving?
My wife and I thought it was good but nothing particularly special, certainly not worth all the Best Picture hype. Then again, there's no standout Best Picture nominee, so....
Me and the wife saw it over the weekend, thought it was an utterly charming and well made film, I had no problem with it getting the Oscar.
