Alamo Drafthouse is freaking awesome, luckily I only live about 10 minutes away from it. They have good food and a very nice selection of beer. I swear by it and wont go to any other theater at night, just cause I don't want to deal with idiots.

I liked the Alamo a lot when I lived in Austin. I'd go to the ones in Houston if they were anywhere near civilization! Bite me, Sugar Land!

The Angelika at Bayou Place is the best theater I've been to in Houston that shows "regular" movies instead of art-house stuff. Last flick I saw there was "Hot Fuzz." It's never been crowded when I was there and I've never seen kids, either. It's a cool location because it's nowhere near large concentrations of families and teens. Yess!!

The Movie Tavern in Humble is pretty good. Its theaters are kind of small which is fine because the crowds are usually light. The food is alright and they have a full bar. Try to get there 30 minutes prior to showtime to look at the menu, order, etc. I take my kids there to avoid the little gangster wannabe hangout that is Deerbrook Mall movie theater after dark.

So you come into a thread about a movie theater that serves alcohol, but you....nevermind. I drink while watching movies at home, why not in public?

I went to the one in Humble only once last year, during the day. It was pretty cool. Prices weren't that bad, beer was COLD, good staff and the place was clean. Also, they have a bar in the lobby so you can get your drink on before or after the movie too. The sound and screen quality was good as well. I give it a thumbs up. There will be a new one opening on 249, near 1960 in August which will be the first one built specifically for the Movie Tavern. The others were movie theaters before hand, this one was a gutted Home Depot, so this will location will be exactly what the owners want in a movie theater.

Saw Knocked Up last night at the Humble location. Good food, good service, cold beer, VERY reasonable prices, very comfortable seats.

We'll never go to the normal theatres again. We will see all movies here from now on.

Movie taverns, what a simple and awesome concept! That I'm late hearing about for whatever reason...

I'm one of the biggest baby-haters there is but even I can understand it can't be helped that they're going to cry and fuss, and there's time they're not gonna be kept at home.... High school goofballs and thugs in development can be helped though, and I would definitely like to get away from that demographic in a theater

However, alcohol and idiots is, and since existence, have ALWAYS been a combo to each other  And its usually only so long until thugs hear about a spot and slowly trickle into it I've learned...still, this is definitely something I'll consider
