It's a a picture of Snoke and unmasked Vader, people are apparently assuming Snoke is Vader because their scars look the same. I don't buy it, but who knows.
Or he took that form to convince Ren to join him. Perhaps Ren too can see into the past (visions from other Jedis) with the force making snokes appearance familiar to him. Or Snoke took that form to trick Luke.
About the Snoke/Vader thing: How do the believers explain Snoke having organic limbs and everything? Vader had no limbs left after the duel with Obi-Wan and was put into the suit, so I don't see how suddenly the body would be in normal shape again.
That post made me confused, breh. 1. How does Ren possibly looking into the past make Snoke's appearance familar? You mean that Snoke can alter his appeareance at will? 2. Trick Luke how and when?
Don't buy the Vader thing because Vader is dead. We know Vader is dead since we've seen his force ghost. I think Snoke is an entirely new character or either Plagueis. That other stuff is just way too out there.
I think the theory has Palpatine transferring his soul into Vader's burning body. Really far-fetched.
It's all a trick. Snoke isn't real. It's just a hologram, much like Pac was at Coachella. It's really Darth Jar Jar Binks behind the scene controlling Snoke.
You know, it's funny you say that - I know you are joking, but after watching it a few times, it struck me that, as yet anyway, we have not seen the actual 'Snoke' person, merely a giant holographic representation of him, and that it could end up that he is nothing more than a computerized version of a long-dead person, or something along those lines.
Think he trained Kylo for a bit and in the movie he also said Kylo should go to his planet to finish training. So he definitely exists.

Finally just saw it, and I absolutely loved it. I had low expectations after seeing so much griping, but DAMN, it was just fine. I'm not sure what people expected. The acting was soooo much better than any of the old ones, and there were plenty of new elements sprinkled throughout, while maintaining continuity pretty well. Spoiler 1. very surprised by the amount of Han Solo and Chewy in this. 2. Driver was GREAT as was the new female lead. Daisy or whatever. Kicked ass, and their scenes together were the best. 3. Didn't quite have the humor of the originals, but it wasn't shabby. 4. The new planet killer was enough different from the death star for me. It was fine, being a whole planet and sucking up a sun. That was really cool. 5. Love the whole idea of a fallen storm trooper. Really worked for me. 6. Got the feels in several scenes, albeit in a cheesy way. Love the resistance fighter approach over the water. Love the scene with Driver and Ford on the bridge. Worked for me. Will prob see again. Anyway, I guess I can thank a lot of you for getting my expectations so tempered!

If the script says that Rey has some sensitivity to the Dark Side as she fights Ben Solo, then that would mean she is not one of a line of virtuous Kinobi, who being virtuous, would not have children as it is against the Jedi code anyway. I think that theory of her being Kinobi, while a better plot line and more interesting, falls on itself. I have to believe that Rey is a SkyWalker, and that Luke knows her propensity for darkness, and is afraid to train her like Ben Solo. Rey seemed drawn to a man with a dark past too, as he was a storm trooper afterall. albeit one with a soul. I think the fans want her to be good. So I don't think she will turn to the darkside. She's a fun character they will want to keep on the good side of the force. But she is a skywalker who has links to the darkside.
I would agree that it stood out that Wren seemed intentionally like a weak Sith Lord. Clearly flawed. Helmet off, he was somewhat pitiful ( not unlike Vader by the way so there may be something to that ). Part of that may be the pull to the light side. Not sure. But he let the storm trooper go, he did not follow through on capture of the droid just letting the trooper do the work, and he seemed like a weak overall fighter with no follow through. Even beating at his side was a little weird. I had no problems with any of it, but it seemed like he was more a pitiful dark sith than one that commanded respect. Even the evil commander who kept messing up did not seem to respect him much. There has to be something to that.
but, you being the scientist around these parts ...can you explain this Spoiler Sucking a sun away, and then collapsing upon yourself will destroy the entire solar system by itself. So, the First Order succeeded, no? Or was that weapon actually shooting across solar systems.... I guess it was, actually, since the Millennium Falcon came out of light speed, and the other fighters. At light speed, a blast would take 4.37 years to reach Alpha Centauri. Makes for a long movie. Glad it got destroyed. So to destroy targets in another Solar System, the weapon blasts would require (using my slide rule ... umm...urm) roughly Ludicrous 9.1 speeds to reach their targets. But maybe the weapon's blasts speed dials go to 11.
