The defense of prequels and r****ded changes to the original trilogy is baffling. I don't even like star wars that much and I know the changes were horrible. This isn't defense from fanboys. The changes were pointless and awful. The weird part is that they were pointless.
I don't mind the changes that were done specifically for story continuity, like McDiarmid being added instead of the female chimp. I even didn't mind Anakin being added to the end of VI instead of that weird looking old man. The changes that were made just to make changes (pointless CGI added to Mos Eisley scenes, Han stepping on Jabba's tail, etc.) were annoying as hell, but nothing that would cause me to start taking Lucas family members as hostages like some of the fanboys. Like Cheetah said, an enhanced explosion for the Death Star.....eh, doesn't really affect me one way or the other.
It was explained a page or two back. In the original version of Episode V, Vader has a holo conversation with the Emperor. It was originally shot before Ian McDiarmid was cast. So they used the effects guy's wife dressed as the emperor. In post production they added an overlay of a chimps eyes to her to make the Emperor look more unsettling. They re-shot this scene with McDiarmid and added that into the film for the DVD releases. The original can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKtciRCVpFE
Thanks. People were dropping chimp eyes and stuff like it was lingo I was supposed to know. Knew about the hologram but didn't read the lost memoirs of George Lucas.
Plus, the original was voiced by Clive Revill, but his voice no longer exists in the 'new' version, although his name remains in the credits as the 'Voice of the Emperor'..

first reviews seem to be positive no spoilers at link, very general comments http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...reviews-are-in-heres-what-critics-are-saying/
i was refreshing my memory a bit on youtube of these movies. i came across a video that had every single lightsaber duel from the movies edited together. it was a total of 1 hour and 1 minute. 42 minutes are the 1-3 prequels, and 19 minutes 4-6 movies. interesting that there is a whole freakin hour of them, and it's at that ratio
People too geeked up after the premier. People swore Phantom Menace was the truth until it sunk in. I'm only trusting reviews after 3 weeks.
