Yes it made total sense that the dual should have been more intense but it was too much. There was one point in the battle where the two literally just twirled their light sabers for a couple seconds before striking at each other resulting in light saber locking. I'm just saying I hope the new movies don't do things like this just to make it look cool. I think those effects are very early 2000ish when movies just wanted to show off special effects. They need to be practical now.
By Episode 1 you mean the phantom menace? Yeah I was a senior in high school and there was a ton of hype about 6 months leading up to the May release. They had the actors coming on talk shows, they had starwars documentary specials, taco bell commercials giving away star wars merchandise were coming on. They had toys of all the characters already in the stores before the movie came out. It was talked about constantly on Entertainment Tonight. Actually about now is when you should start getting all of the hype in the media if it's to be anything like the Phantom Menace. So far it doesn't seem like it's getting much attention, probably because people like Bruce/Kaityln Jenner are out making news and reality shows.
I get all of that...but Obi Wan wins because he "has the high ground"? Of all the powers they possess, Obi Wan wins because he's standing uphill from Anakin?
And in the previous 20 minutes, there are several instances where one of them has the high ground over the other. It's just turrrrible, almost as bad as Anakin's acting. "Okay, okay, you need to look ANGRY -- give it a try! ... Well... okay... yeah, we can go with constipated looking, fine. That's a wrap."
Anakin did the same exact jump flip earlier in the fight, so Obi wan had a good guess at what was coming. He was likely just trying to warn Anakin off in any way he could since he didn't want to cut him down.
The unintentional comedy of Anakin having his legs light-sabered off, babbling "I hate you!" and then catching on fire is just off the scale. They broke the unintentional comedy meter in that scene. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2vMUj8bKr2E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Picking on the prequels is like picking on a special needs kid. Everyone knows they have problems but to be fair, it was a very boring time in the Star Wars universe. In a more exciting time: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rPdJdEFilaU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
there were points where that was the case yes, but the one on low ground didn't try to go at the person on high ground. Whoever was lower backed up. PLUS the situation that anakin was in was unique. He basically only had one way to go since he was on that platform. It sounded cheesy but it somewhat made sense. I guess. I WANT TO BELIEVE! HAHAHA

The problem with the prequels (and a bunch of other derivative stuff being created these days) is that they rely on nostalgia for unearned feels. Throw characters/worlds we know on the screen and please fanboys with "Yoda with a lightsaber" type stuff, without actually creating something compelling and new. Without the history, the new Star Trek films would be average at best. It looks like they are emphasising a return to real effects instead of all green screen CGI. That's encouraging.
I agree with you with respect to the Star Wars prequels... but disagree with respect to Star Trek. I really enjoyed those films, and I didn't care for Star Trek before them, honestly. I've read others saying the same thing. I didn't expect to like those movies, but went because I have sons who wanted to see it. I was very pleasantly surprised. That's part of why I have as much hope for the new Star Wars movies as I do.
That video is probably the most promising thing I've seen since these movies were announced. I always find it interesting that the creator of the universe is also the biggest detriment to the franchise. Now that it's in new hands, my excitement is slowly starting to grow.
I'm not even a star wars fan and that reel looks to be the greatest movie ever. If there's one thing that was missing from this universe is that the fight scenes are kinda one dimensional. Now that you got the dudes from The Raid and some new Hollywood blood, the light saber action is the most I'm looking forward to. Have any of you guys use light sabers as foreplay with your significant other? Should I explain, or?
I've never been a Star Trek fan growing up and went to the theaters to watch the new Star Trek movies and found them very entertaining. I thought they were a nice balance between action and humor. I think the reverse is true with the new Star Trek films. The Star Trek fans I know don't really like the new films. I re-watched the Star Wars prequels recently and recalled how fake and pristine the backdrops for many of the scenes especially in Coruscant were. This new reel shows me the opposite and I'm so glad. The corridors and other set pieces look real and gritty. Nothing looks plasticky and superimposed.
