    Star Trek Into Darkness. 7/10.

Never ever again will watch another movie written by Damon Lindelof. Damon Lindelof is a ****ing hack and should stay the hell away from science fiction. How much he turn the scientists in Prometheus into an annoying and immature he did that again to Star Trek but x10. As much as I enjoy the first Star Trek, this one just got so damn annoying and how immature the whole main crews turn out. Seriously they turn the crews into a very unlikable characters that you didn't give a **** if they die or dying. It has terrible science and logic. This is the second movie in a row where once again you scratch your head and wonder where the ****ing hell are star fleets to protect EARTH? I mean you would expect Earth to be very well protected due to the fact that they have encounter many hostile Alien species. Even though I enjoy it for the visual, actions and direction by JJAbrams but the stupid science and logic behind the whole Star Trek universe has been turn into some lazy science and logic by Lindelof. Also very disappointed with the direction that they are heading. Instead of coming up with some new Alien species or situation they instead took an icon situation and turn it up side down.

So please enlighten me to why they can't transport a person moving when they were able to do it in the first movie(sure it was tough)? Most of the time you see them standing in one spot and arms swinging with only the space craft moving in a constant speed which could easily be tracked. I mean they were able to beam down Uhura onto the moving ship. Not only that instead of transporting down more backup to take down Khan they only send down Uhura? Here's more complains and nit picking. Why aren't the crews wearing some kind of tracking device so be able to track their movements for transportation? Another complain wouldn't it be dangerous for another ship to teleport you onto their ship or somewhere without your control? I mean at least take some time during the movie to iron out and put in some logical science.

To be fair none of the original Star Trek actors were stars prior to doing Star Trek either. If you can find people who will do a good job I kind of prefer more obscure actors for this sort of thing so you think of them first as the character rather than the actor. I enjoyed the movie over all. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was entertaining.

    I don't buy it anyway.

Zoe Saldana was not a 'tv actor'

Anton Yelchin was not a 'tv actor'

John Cho was not primarily a 'tv actor'

Chris Pine is not primarily a 'tv actor'

Bruce Greenwood was not a 'tv actor'

Karl Urban was not a 'tv actor'

Simon Pegg began in TV, but has become more of a movie actor

Peter Weller is obviously not a 'tv actor'

Nimoy himself, well, he spent 3 years in a tv series and about 40 years since in movies.

The only people who you could even really call 'tv actors' would be Quinto and Cumberbatch, and both of them have clearly shown they are MORE than capable of carrying major roles in a motion picture, especially considering their work in this movie itself.

And if the complaint is about Greenwood and Weller, it's just not fair to criticize actors with long careers for actually WORKING in their careers, both of which have veered into television as well as films.

    They are all just.. 'actors'.

So, I think think the criticism rings false.

I'm curious who he thinks should have been cast in their places, since the casting choices have actually been extremely good for the roles, especially Urban, Quinto and Pegg. Saldana's role has been so expanded and updated as to not resemble the Uhura from the tv series or previous movies, and Pine's assignment to portray a younger Kirk - with entirely different history and baggage as well - means that he has had to make the character his own and not rely as much on imitation of Shatner's performance as the other characters have had to do with theirs, since their histories remained relatively unchanged.

Just saw this and came away very impressed. One of the best movies I have seen in quite a while! I stayed away from all spoilers and was not expecting the villain to be Khan, which was a kick-ass surprise. Honestly loved every bit of this movie, and can't understand how any trek fan wouldn't enjoy it. 9.5/10!

It was good but, while they try to create a serious tone at times due to the unfolding events, the way they try to infuse humor with individual crew members making jokes along the way feels forced. These characters also feel so paper thin still. Sure, they are good at emulating their past counterparts who played the roles. I'm not exactly sure what the right balance between keeping it light and serious is. I guess you just don't have the time in these types of movies to build on character growth because the action elements get in the way. Besides, I don't think we want a soap opera in space. But, the characters could feel a little more real by maybe some more social interactions outside of the high stress situations they are inevitably under throughout the duration of the film. And, why was the original Spock even in that cameo shot? That did absolutely nothing for anything.

It's still one of the better Trek films imo. I like the new cast. Just need to build on it more. I don't like retreading a storyline especially since this is a new timeline. Maybe they need to spin this cast off into their own TV series down the road to where their personalities and some character depth really builds in? I don't feel like I know these characters. I just know their function and their dumb, untimely quips at humor that would likely never happen if we were imagining it to be real. But, whatever. They are just turn-off-the-brain sci-fi movies mainly geared for space action, cool looking sets, and special effects.

As it just became available for rent, just saw this. I thought it was fantastic. I think this series is far and away the best movie series out there at the moment. My only real meaningful complaint is the obviousness of how hey save Kirk at the end.

Are the stories "perfect"? No, but that's actually part of the positive for me. All of the star treks stories have been campy at times, or had a hole here or there. They've all had certain characters who leaned more comedic and others who didn't, etc. and I truly don't know how u can complain about the acting here. All of the characters present as very believable, unique, very true to character, very true to the original characters, yet their own.

    Great, entertaining movie.

Watched it twice today.. Cumberbatch basically could read the back of a bag of chips, and it would be mesmerizing...

Well... I can say that Into Dumbness really puts that axiom to the test.

A bag of chips reads better than any Lindeld'oh-f'it plot I've seen yet.

Really? Is it because he's British? Nothing against the British, I love British humor Mr. Bean and all that stuff and the Monty Pythons but Cumberbatch acting is what killed the movie for me. It's overacting to a point of nauseating coma inducing.

I watched it again last night, christ, the plot is stupid. I "enjoyed" it a bit more than I did the first time but still don't think it's a very good film. The Spock "Khaaann" thing is even more awkward and shoehorned the second time around...

As a life long Trek fan, I'm just disappointed with it, hopefully they'll listen to Urban and do something original next go around.

I liked his Khan. I wasn't big on the movie though, because the plot did indeed suck.

I believe this is because Quinto simply does not have the same weight and presence as Nimoy. I know they have made deliberate choices with the character, to make him younger and less sure of himself, less stoic. The problem is mainly though that his voice is in a much higher register - Spock really needs to be sitting in a lower, more gravelly range, much like Cumberbatch does already.

Personally, I have no issue with Quinto. I just hate that scene all around because it doesn't feel earned the way it was in Wrath. Honestly, I thought the "flip" was lazy writing.

I didn't like Cumberbatch's performance in this. I kept on thinking of the Hyacinth Bucket character from Keeping Up Appearances.

Finally got to watch it for the first time. Entertaining and enjoyed it. There are some plot holes and all but sometimes you just have to overlook those kind of things and take it for what it's worth.

The fact that those are the only British TV shows you've paid attention to means you know **** all about British TV. Cumberbatch was great. Great acting makes **** acting look weird.
