Just saw it. So let me get this straight. He tracks her down in that rich dude's house. They're making him a sandwich, and he asks her to "come away with me." She says, Live on what? He says, Love. She still declines. So at this point, I'm thinking, okay maybe this is why this movie is being worshipped by everyone and their mothers. They found something that transcends love that brings them together eventually. I didn't think it was possible, but I'm interested now. Yada yada yada, movie finishes. That thing is f'ing money. Money. IS THIS FOR REAL? Yes, they both made sacrifices for each other along the way and showed a true connection, but in end they, she doesn't pursue him until she sees him on a f'ing gameshow with f'ing 10 million Rbs in his hands. I almost couldn't believe what I was watching. The theme of destiny was illustrated beautifully, but overall, overrated doesn't begin to describe this mediocre work. I'm so disappointed right now, I'm actually angry. It just seems like movie watchers are mindless lemmings who go along with what everyone else is saying.
It's a good movie, but damn is it overated or what. The kids were great but the adult actors were just awful. (except the police chief). Not to mention the ending is beyond cheesy.
Actually if you remember, she met him at the train station to leave with him before the game show...but she gets captured...so she pursued him before the game show...
and he picks the last question with a 1 in 4 chance of winning the money. obviously he doesnt care if he has the money because as much as he acts like he cant live with out her i doubt he would throw the money away if he thought she wouldnt want to be with him then. i think homeboy at the top that was so severely hurt by the disappointment of this movie has got it wrong
I'm not questioning that HE wanted to be with her. I'm questioning the fact that SHE didn't hop into the car until she witnessed his imminent rise to extreme wealth.
dude like kinghrockets said she already tried to meet him once at the bus station after he left her house once. she got taken away and he by chance got on a gameshow that she watched as in only a movie it could happen. just saying i think your assumption that she didnt want to be with him unless he had money is way WAY off.
That's not necessarily my assumption. I think maybe the writer jut did a bad job of giving us a clear direction on how to view Latika and what she was thinking. At some points you see a clear, mutual connection between them but then suddenly she's cold to him at that guy's house, and I'm not sure why. All we know is, when he asks her to leave with him, she basically tells him he has nothing. I mean why is she with that rich dude in the first place? There has to be some security aspect to Latika's actions.
nonetheless...after this night, the hype will be there, but there will be none like it... john legend and AR Rahman on the same stage?? unbelieveable...
well, in that case. I am proud of our one Oscar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9FgzH4xizU <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/D1f7GX-c6Hc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/D1f7GX-c6Hc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
The first person shown in the In Memoriam segment graduated from the same high school I did. What can of pride can I show for that?
haha touche' it's just i was lucky to witness the people whom ive been following for a good part of my life take it home...and it's highly unlikely that that will happen again...
SHE TRIED TO RUN AWAY WITH HIM AT THE TRAIN STATION but they captured her. How the hell did you miss that?
