Overated movie and overly sentimental fairy tale. Go watch a real movie call "Salaam Bombay".

Saw it today and thought it was good. Loved the cinematography. And the acting by the little kids was terrific.

Just saw Button. Curios case indeed, but fail to see anything else special about that movie. Maybe I am too dumb to understand, just a pointless movie IMO.

Just saw it tonight. Great flick. The people hating on it need something better to do.

Salim knew that Jamal knew only one phone number - his cell phone, so he let Latika go because he knew that phone would ring.

No need to break down every detail of the movie. Enjoy the flick.

Good call on "Cinema Paradiso". A wonderful movie with a beautiful ending.

That's the reason why I hated "Slumdog Millionaire". THey portrayed the slumdog children like they are totally enjoying their life in the movie so pretty much I didn't connect or feel sympathy towards them. The movie makes their slum look like a beautiful and livable place. Like I said. Go watch a real movie call "Salaam Bombay".

    Are you kidding me?

There was nothing beautiful or livable looking about that place. And I sure as hell wouldn't want that life.

(Well, other than the winning the money part)

So you think I'm Indian because I'm saying "Salaam Bombay" is a much better movie portraying the slum. Grow a brain. Slumdog will not sweep the award. It'll be lucky to win even 1.

you don't appreciate cinema for what it is..writing, directing, and acting...and america has waiting for a film that has excelled in these categories...watch it again...

    this movie is epic..

I saw it today and enjoyed the movie for what it was. An improbable tale of poor boys and a pretty girl making it out of the slums amidst poverty, tragedy and adversity. The protagonist reminds of the championship Rocket teams, in that he never gave up ever.

Well, the fact of the matter is that you're in a small minority that didn't like this movie, and there are a lot of aspects to the movie that are worth discussing. If you don't like it, why do you click on this thread? Isn't there a thread where you can go expound your knowledge on the Mavericks or something?

LOL No it is real. Not sure about Mumbai but I'm from south India and I can confirm there are areas within the metropolitan that look like that. Its an ugly secret we (Indian ppl) are in denial. Every country has slums like this (American version would be projects where people deal with corruption/adultery/child abuse etc etc etc)

please read what i wrote again. no one is denying the existence of slums. But to say that Jamal's life is representative of what the average slum dweller goes through would be horribly wrong
