yeah i really enjoyed the music in the movie during the credits when I saw he did the work I was not surprised at all the music was good. the opening music with the kids running through the slums is just awesome. I went and acquired the soundtrack on sunday after watching the movie last saturday
I don't like tooting my own horn but I'm glad everyone liked this flick which I brought to the BBS' attention. My date enjoyed it very much and, as I stated in my original thread, I did get some. You all should check out my thread on Gomorrah. It has redefined the mob flick. Your date will not complain at the violence. In fact, she might think you're cultured for taking her to see a film in subtitles. This could also lead to getting some.
words do not describe the beauty of this movie. it has everything. best movie of the year, yes, above the dark knight.
LOL, don't act like the entire BBS went to see the movie just b/c you started a thread about it! SOME ppl actually look into what movies are coming out before hand and use a lil help from rotten tomatoes! For instance, The Wrestler is supposed to be good
Saw it a few days ago, definitely worth seeing. Very well done and sadly a lot of the things you see when it comes to slums and treatment of people in the slums is true. (i.e. blinding kids so they make more money begging) He's not supposed to be Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan only hosted 1 season (the first season) of Who Wants to be a millionaire? (In Hindi, its Kaun Benega Crorepati or Who wants to be a 10 millionaire, Crore = 10 million rupees) Anyway, since the first season, Shah Rukh Khan has been the host and most people identify the show with him, rather than Bachchan. It was just a coincidence that they mentioned Amitabh Bachchan in the movie and had Millionaire as a focal point. There's no connection.
i thought 10 million rupees was a lot until i did a currency conversion. only 210K. . great movie and the chick is smok'n hot. she looks like a mixed race friend(black w/ white) of mine.
Spoiler just curious... who of you out there would sacrifice that much for love? i mean... risk 10 million dollars in hopes that your true love will (one/million chance) be watching?
I couldn't understand him during the second question when he asked the audience. Why didn't he know the answer?
I didn't understand how he knew what Rama holds in his hands. I mean those kids were Muslim. Why would a figment of Rama appear out of nowhere right there and then? I sure hope Jesus Christ doesn't appear in front of me when my mother dies. I also didn't understand how he would know who invented the pistol. Just because his brother owned a gun and he witnessed a murder does not mean he knows who invented it. I mean I'm listening to music right now. If I was asked who invented the first speaker I would have no damn clue. There were too many holes. The flow of the movie just killed it for me. It was a good movie but just too unrealistic for my taste. The host was a douche, all of India would definitely not be watching this game show, Jamal would not have become famous overnight, Salim definitely wouldn't have betrayed his younger brother like that, etc. I am glad Salim redeemed himself at the end, but the whole movie didn't leave a 'wow' impression on me. I heard someone say the movie wasn't as great as people made it seem to be. I told him I completely agreed. I wish I could get my 10 dollars back. Unattractive cast, poor acting, and a borderline decent story do not equate to movie of the year. The movie would've been more inspiring if he got the last question wrong. I mean he was only on the show because he wanted that girl to see him. Once she answered the phone he should've just said he didn't care for the game anymore. Even if he got the last question wrong he still would've ended up with the girl, which would then be his million dollar prize. That would've been more fitting. I can keep going but I don't want to lose anymore hair over this movie. I'm going to watch Billy Madison. Oh yeah, also, I'm sure if those kids fell off the train the way they did, they would've been dead or seriously injured. They just got up as if it was nothing and ended up in Agra
i liked it but from what i've heard there are much better bollywood movies than this, although this isn't bollywood.
I didn't get that either. It's because his brother pointed the gun at him and said that he holds the Colt .45 now. I'll just chalk it up to destiny. Overall I thought it was a great movie. The first half was ok, but I thought the paced picked up in the end there. Also Freida Pinto was pretty hot.
IIRC, both brother saw Rama, so I think someone actually showed up dressed up as Rama. I dunno, thats my explanation
A friend just explained that it was actually a statue. But then you have to ask what a statue of Rama was doing in a Muslim community...
