Dude, say whatever you want about Will Smith, but don't rip on The New World. What a freaking gorgeous movie. I mean -- this is a Malick movie, dude! Thin Red Line, ftw!

Said the Boston Globe at the time:
"Self-indulgent, gorgeous, maddening, grueling, ultimately transcendent, it's a Terrence Malick movie all the way, and possibly the director's most sustained work since 1972's Badlands."

you gotta give props to will smith. he sold it.

he's such a good actor that you don't realize til after the movie how eerie what his character actually did. you plug in another actor in his place and the film is eerie.

but it's will smith so he's cool. ...at least that's what i thought.

it was a good movie, slow moving and can be boring at some parts, but the end makes it worthwhile because it was a huge myestery to me why he was doing all this.

Figured out what was going on half way through the movie, and then didn't want to watch the end of it. In hindsight, would have picked something else to see.

Seven Pounds is much more moving than Benjamin Button. But I agree on the other two.

Sig? What did I do to deserve such an honor? :)

    I just saw the movie.

If you don't understand where love resides within the helplessness of tragedy and loss then you will not like this movie. I absolutely loved it.

Watched this movie Monday. I thought it was a moving story and a good movie. It was fairly slow moving, only one explosion, no action, and the only hottie in the movie was cast in a role that didn't portray her in such a manner so I can understand why some people wouldn't enjoy this type of flick, but every know and then, I like to sit down and watch something like this when it is done correctly and I think that this one was. It's not the best movie of this genre I've ever seen, but I didn't leave the theater wanting my money back or wishing I had went bowling instead.

I thought the movie came together well when he fell in love and actually began to be lifted from his dispair and found a reason to live. Sadly, the love that he found in an unlikely place that motivated him to want to continue to live is what ultimately forced him to have to go through with his initial plans. He loved her so much that he gave her his heart. He died so that she could live. He knew she didn't have much time left and life without her would be no life at all. I liked the Ben and Tim twist too. That caught me by surprise. The fact that she went to see the guy who had his eyes just so that she could look into his eyes one more time made the lady in the row in front of me start sobbing. When the movie was over, I believe that I was the first person to stand up. Everybody just sat there quiet...probably trying to regain their composure I assume. :D
