The flick made $15.3 million in its opening weekend - below box office expectations by $10 million. Either the R-rating killed this movie or the public is finally getting sick of seeing Will F playing the same character in movie after movie... and boy does he churn out movies at an alarming pace (almost 2x per year)... its like he knows that he has a schtick that will get old soon (i.e. Adam Sandler) and wants to keep striking while the iron is hot. I believe I read somewhere that Taladega Nights grossed $50M on opening weekend and Blades of Glory did $33M.... if this downward trend continues... will may need to find his spanglish or punch drunk love and reinvent himself.
Finally the public is starting to see that Ferrell sucks. He is great in support, but a lame duck in the lead.
He's already been nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in Stranger than Fiction. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kShJAEODWMc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kShJAEODWMc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Saw it this weekend and I'm a ferrell fan. Its a letdown, very uneven, never really sure if it wants you to take it seriously or if it's supposed to be just zany. The Woody Harlson and Andre 3000 subplot was just very blah, didn't help the movie at all. Overall it felt a little lazy, probably worth a rental since it's only 90mins long but far from memorable.
offtopic: *laugh* I picked to watch the Boleyn Girl, it wasn't bad, not entirely a chick flick either. I highly recommend
This guy liked it. Apparently he's getting quite the following. This movie pretty much sucked balls. The only part I thought was really hilarious was when Will Arnett got called a jive turkey and they all proceeded to unwittingly play Russian Roulette.
Yes. That was by far the best part of the movie. I've done my best to stay away from watching anything associated with the new Farrell movie Step Brothers that comes out in a week. I'm tired of seeing all of the good jokes before the movie is release.
