Hah, looks like Maximus Decimus Meridius in a different time period. I'll still be seeing though, of course.
I just can't see Crowe as Robin Hood, but I like both Crowe and Scott movies, so will follow the progress. DD
Wait, so is this a Robin Hood movie or is it like King Arthur or Troy where they make a movie about "the events that gave rise to the legend"?
Russel Crowe played a slick, kinda funny bad guy in 3:10 to Yuma so maybe he can pull of Robin Hood. I always thought of Robin Hood as a little more light-hearted and humorous than Kevin Costner's version was. I hope Crowe doesn't give us a brooding Robin Hood full of inner turmoil.
i remember seeing a quick preview a while back and thought it had a darker vibe. It would be cool for a more realistic view of robin hood though, one that isnt so glamourous.
Funny thing is when Prince of Thieves came out there was some controversy about it being too dark. I guess times have changed.
The funnier thing is that Robin Hood didn't really exist, and even in the early legends he wasn't associated with Maid Marian in any way, so it's awesome that we have a "historically accurate" movie coming out to clear things up.
that is the trend. Now i want to watch Prince of thieves...havent seen that in years. I thought they did a good job of balancing hoakyness and realism. side note: the christian slater "F me, he made it" is a line that really stuck out of being odd.
Well yeah, I think at the time of Prince of Thives, Robin Hood was most strongly associated with the Disney Film, which is why the won't-someone-think-of-the-children contingent were trying to raise a stink. If I remember correctly, I think the main issue was with a very mildly disturbing rape scene.
Russell + Crowe= Must-see. However, the whole Robin Hood thing is so tired and played out. I don't see how Crowe can put a fresh perspective on it. But I'm sure it will be a great action flick.
