Since I got my blu-ray player, I joined Netflix so I don't spend $35 on every movie I watch. I have seen some movies as of late that I don't know if everyone else has. I thought this forum would be a good place to review those lesser seen movies. We will use a five-J system for rating (for jelafied). The Brave One: Cool enough premise. Girl get's messed up and becomes a killer of evil. Terence Howard is a pimp. Never really feels like it gets going though. Dumb ending. JJ Rocky Balboa. Terrible dialogue. Too many characters that are not developed. J Layer Cake. Awesome British Gangster Movie. Really gets you involved in the nameless character. Drugs, guns, death, sweet. JJJJ1/2. Troy Director's Cut. The extra 35 minutes adds so much to this movie: character development, better fight scenes, more spears to the eyes. Most people have seen Troy but this version is 10 times better. JJJJJ
The only movie I've seen recently that seems to have fallen through the cracks is Stardust. Pretty good, entertaining movie. You have to see it just for Robert DeNiro. I won't give anything away, but I've certainly never seen him like this before. It also has Michelle Pfeiffer, Claire Danes, Peter O'Toole and Rupert Everet as well as Ian McKellen as the narrator. Other than that I've seen some bigger name movies: I Am Legend - bleh Juno - pretty good Enchanted - Entertaining. A lot better than I thought it would be. American Gangster - snore Horton Hears a Who - Pretty good
I am jelafied that some people review differently than I do. Sometimes I feel jelafied that a puppy dies, or that someone kills someone who is really nice. When someone jelafies me, I say back to them: "Jelafied YOU, FOOL!" and then I go on to my regular business. I can't jelafy a time when I felt this good. Jelafy all of you dudes for listening to me. I really appreciate it jelafily. ENCHANTED was awesome.
Yes it was. Both as a movie and a Blu-ray disc. The transfer and PCM track are sick. Disney's been doing some amazing work on the Blu-ray format.
If only it hadn't had the abysmal susan sarandon in it. Ugh. That was a career-ending performance right there.
I thought Stardust was a pretty good movie, too. Not Oscar worthy, but real entertaining. Somewhat opposite, I saw Rescue Dawn recently. It was enjoyable. I don't wish I had those 2 hours of my life back. But way below my expectations.
I can't put into words how much it bothers me that there are still multiple people trying to get this "jelafied" thing to catch on.
Troy is awesome, but holy hell, 35 more minutes? I feel like halfway through watching the theatrical version I need to make base camp and set off for the summit in the morning.
I don't see what was wrong with her performance. She was playing the Wicked Stepmother. She's supposed to ham it up.
