I hated Grandma's Boy, but then again I hate most stoner movies. The only thing more annoying than the constant "Dude, I'm so high!" is constant gross (graphic) humor (such as body fluids or body functions) or gratuitous nudity. Pineapple Express was a really fun movie. Lots of action and violence, little over-the-top potty humor.
I haven't seen the movie yet (don't know if i will) but did anyone catch Seth Rogan on the Daily Show. He said they have run out of ideas for movies...they wrote most of these movies when they were stoned young teenagers. I hope this doesn't mean that their next movie will suck.
I am going to watch this with my girl tonight since she didn't get a chance to see it with me when I caught the first release screening of the movie. To those on the fence about watching this movie, it is far from a pure stoner movie. The only part of the movie where they are sitting and talking about weed is probably in the first part of the movie in a 10 minute scene, but that in itself is not just a stoner scene since it is important to the plot of the movie. People should go watch this movie for lots of laughter. I saw Step Brother and this movie is definitely 1000x better than that. Step Brothers, while keeping you laughing through the movie, consists mostly of childish humor which you won't really remember the next day. You will remember laughing, but won't remember the scenes in detail.
Saw it liked. Superbad def my least favorite. That includes the flick with the vampire musical thingy.
Loved the movie. The first half was hilariously great, the second wasn't quite as funny (the ending scene was though), but still it was a good.
It was Pretty funny. My friend made it sound like it was gonna suck. He loved Superbad, and I thought that movie was decent. I liked Pineapple express better. Superbad didn't have much of a plot, but it had it's moments. James Franco was surprisingly funny. I thought this movie was going to suck from the commercials.
It was funny. Had it's moments. Wasn't funny enough to make me tear up or anything. No where NEAR as good as Superbad, as some have said it's better.
Franco is VERY funny. <object width="464" height="388" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"><param name="movie" value="http://www2.funnyordie.com/public/flash/fodplayer.swf?96d0a705" /><param name="flashvars" value="key=f12ee4dfcf" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed width="464" height="388" flashvars="key=f12ee4dfcf" allowfullscreen="true" quality="high" src="http://www2.funnyordie.com/public/flash/fodplayer.swf?96d0a705" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object><div style="text-align:center;width: 464px;">See more <a href="http://www.funnyordie.com/james_franco">James Franco</a> videos at Funny or Die</div>
That fight scene in Red's house was some of the most brutal and hilarious fights I've seen in a comedy....
I'd say it's a little bit better than Superbad because of the action scenes in it... I was amazed at how violent it was compared to all the other apatow projects...
Saw it last night. It was a very original movie. It knew what it was trying to do, and did it well. Whenever you thought it was going to get too serious, it made fun of itself. Spoiler When he was crying about his girlfriend and wanted her to get back with him and then she said she wanted to get married and he stopped crying and called her immarture. That was hilarious. The "You've been served line" at the end was very funny. The fact that these two stoners who had never fired a gun were cappin fools left and right with AKs was hilarious as well.
Not as funny as i thought it would be but still pretty funny, but i wasn't expecting that much action and violence so that made up for it. Franco is hilarious. Rogen started to get too loud for me. Mcbride was funny as hell too. The belt scene has me rolling!!
There were alot of subtle moments that were extremely hilarious. Franco is the man, that guy played the part perfectly. best part was.. Spoiler when franco says "F THE POLICE!" in slow motion then empties his AK clip into the air completely missing the cop. Then the cop starts charging at him and he has the most terrified look on his face and starts stumbling back. Then somehow he isn't scared all of sudden then charges at her too that part had me falling out of my chair cause it was so damn funny.
Might addd thast it was more enjoyable than Step brothers just because SB seemed like they tried too hard to make you blatanktly laugh while this movie had "subtle genuine laughs"... hard to explain
