That's a good point. There are rare gems. But by and large, they are just cheese. I love them though. Probably my favorite horror sub-genre. By the way, watching a zombie flick right now. Netflix streaming is awesome.
Problem is, there aren't any ****ing zombies in this movie. And the few times that zombies do show up, they are just making noise in the background. It's just "Alice" running around beating up dudes with helmets. Last I recall, there were no soldiers with shiny motorcycle helmets anywhere, in any of the games. I figure, if the movie is going to be full of suck, might as well stay true to the game. Take Silent Hill for example, stayed pretty true to the game in terms of mood and storyline, did poorly at the box office, but I was satisfied. Only 2 movies based on games, have left me satisfied, Mortal Kombat 1 and Silent Hill. Resident Evil (the movie) is a ****ing joke, you could call it ANYTHING else, and no one would even know it was even remotely related to the video game. It can be called Super Hot Chick Beats Up Motorcyclists. And people would probably still go see it. Without even caring that it was very very loosely based on the Resident Evil game.
Anderson is hardly a quality director but does make entertaining movies at times. Not at all similar to Boll. I am a bit of a movie snob but enjoyed the Resident Evil movies for what they were.
Really? Please name me that movie(s). Even though Paul Anderson isn't a very good story teller. I do kinda like his visual sense. I mean Event Horizon could've been great but it totally wander into the wrong direction.
Which one are you guys talking about? I like the 2004 version of Dawn of the Dead and haven't seen the 1978 version.
It made a profit because the movies are awesome. Just don't expect a lot from it, add tons of cheese, and it turns out to be a pretty decent movie..a movie you'll pay for and watch only once, or whenever it comes on Showtime because it's a boring Saturday afternoon. Either way I enjoyed the movies, and I'm looking forward to the 4th one. I hope it's all action and no substance.
The good news, the 3D is fantastic, if you ever want to see a 3D Tech demo on how Cameron's 3D tech would look like on a liveaction movie without smurfs, then check it out. Outside of that, there is nothing worth recommending, less story and actual stuff happening in this one than in the last 3 and that's saying something, just aweful.
