Thanks to everyone in here for using the Spoiler tags. I have decided not to watch the International trailer as it sounds it gives some key points away. Excited for the movie.

Just mentioned this in the Avenger's thread, but I saw the Prometheus 3D trailer in IMAX this morning....and holy god almighty it was beautiful. It felt real, it made the trailer look so.much.better. than what you've seen on youtube.

No botch-job cheap stereoconversion look. No 2D cutout looking people. It looked like you were truly watching something real in front of you, gaining perspective and depth.

    NICE

I've been waiting for a real Alien prequel/sequel since 1986.

Simple reason actually, he could be programmed to sacrifice himself in order to complete the secret mission. Perhaps Ash was to assure the entire crew was wiped out to keep from having any witnesses. Obviously the company knew what they were dealing with, they knew the trouble they would get in if anyone ever found out. If the entire crew died, including Ash being destroyed by the alien then they could just say there was an accident while everyone was in hypersleep and the entire crew perished. The ship and derelict cargo would return to our solar system under autopilot and the company would bring it in.

Thats about the only answer I can come up with. I'll try to find some comics or background story and see if I can find anything definitive. I have the entire Aliens, Predator, AVP comic series on my HD at home. I've never actually read them haha. It may take some research, but I doubt your the only person whos questioned Ash's actions. Malfunction my ass, he was programmed to do everything he did. This isn't 2001, computers don't malfunction.

Good to hear. Ridley is a visual master so I'm excited to see how he will handle the 3D. Hopefully the trailer is attached to The Avengers at my theater cause I'll be catching it tomorrow.

3D trailer looks completely different. I'll admit, it looked great, but... it may be too much. I felt a little distracted.

Prometheus R-Rated??? There is a GOD!!! There's already an advanced screening and I would advise that you people should stay away from IMDB.

^^^I was going to buy them on Fandango but wanted to wait to see the rating. Now that it's R it's getting the deluxe IMAX 3D purchase. I'll just pick some up tomorrow and avoid the $6 surcharge.

Good to see the Ridley Scott stood up to the studio to keep it released as an R than watering it down just to get a wider audience.

Makes me wonder now if the overall tone of this is going to be more horror or more sci-fi..

Alien was horror which happened to be set in a sci-fi world.. Aliens was much more sci-fi and action-adventure, very little 'horror'.

I am ambivalent now about whether to bring my 11-year-old son to see it. I took him to see Cabin in the Woods, big mistake, that was a disaster. I don't want to bring him if this is going to be more slanted to the horror and terrifying imagery, etc.

Sigh. I guess I will HAVE to be looking at some spoilers beforehand.. :(

Alien and Aliens would both have scared me at 11 to be honest.

I think I watched Alien & Aliens when I was 10 and they both scared the hell out of me.

I don't think it's going to be straight horror, but I'm 95% certain that there will a handful of scenes that will be a big problem if Cabin in the Woods didn't go well.

Wasn't going to watch it but some freaking idiots put up some gif files on their main site and spoil it for others so I pretty much end watching it. I don't know what to think anymore. After hearing the generic soundtrack from Marc Streitenfeld and seeing this clip I have a sinking feeling about this. Monsters and musics are just so not interesting or unique.
