I'll give it 2 thumbs up. One of the better scary movies I've seen in a while. I didn't over-hype it in my mind beforehand so I was satisfied. I could see why it got a solid 86% on rotten tomatoes.
Just got back from seeing it tonight. It was okay...didn't hate it but didn't love it either. Wasn't ever a fan of Blair With Project which I honestly hated and jumped one time during. This movie at least had a bit of psychological drama that gets you thinking. Like the sleeping scenes where she is watching over him...that can freak anyone out becuase now they wonder what is going on when they are sleeping. It's a movie that can get inside peoples heads and exaggerate and increase peoples senses when they get home. It does it's job for most people. A lot of them will just look twice at everything until it's out of their system. Some people it doesn't have the least bit effect on. I think it was a movie that did the job and better then the rest of the crap that is out these days.
Was this movie really funny? I had the misfortune of being in the theatre with a bunch of teenagers. And throughout the movie they were giggling. Especially the part where she idles by the bed for two hours and the part where she gets dragged out of bed. The theatre busted out laughing. The movie wasnt even scary, stupid teen girls with their oh my god oh my god.
theaters really need to do a better job of policing who they let into rated R movies. I don't mind teenagers getting into a rated R movie if they STFU, but I had an entire row of female teenagers that ruined the movie. They were talking the entire ****ing movie and started complaining about it not being scary 10 minutes into the movie. People need to get a ****ing clue and realize that they aren't going to a movie where you see 15 people get their heads cut off. it's like going to a ****ing romantic comedy and being upset about there not being enough explosions.
I watched it last night and I've also seen both endings. I thought It was... I'd say, 'pretty good'. I'd give it an 81/100. It did drag on in parts but I think that comes with being low budget. Also it was a bit anti-climactic, but I think that kinda comes with the movie format. I admire the fact that it was NOT formulaic and was very very different than most cheesy movies. I admire that it successfully created a "creepy" feeling, which is more than I can say for any horror movie I've seen for many years. I wouldn't say it was the scariest movie of all time, but I enjoyed it. I can see where some would really like it a lot because of its format. I can also see where others (probably a younger audience) would find it slow and not-scary. Overall, I give it a thumbs-up, which is a lot coming from me. I can't remember the last horror movie I approved. THE ENDINGS After seeing both endings I must say... I thought the ending with the cops was so-so and more anti-climactic. The other ending (without the cops, was a little better, but was more hollywood formulaic. I like the one without the cops better, but I think that they could have come up with an ending better than either of these.
I've got a question regarding this one... Spoiler What is up with the light turning on down the hall right before the cops come up the stairs? It happens at around 5:18 in the video...?
That might have just been an indication that Spoiler the demon left Katie's body. He was back to his shenanigans again.
Not really. Was a bit different. Actually, I didn't understand what message the demon was trying to send so any clarification of the scene would be appreciated. I still can't believe that this movie cost 15k to make.
I'm kinda surprised by that, too. Honestly, $15,000 sounds very high. I saw a $1000 camera, rental of two police uniforms for ~$100, and a few props like some baby powder, some beads, a ouija board, total price of about $50. video and sound editing software? Okay, that's another $1000 (assuming you don't do bootleg). Where did all the money go?
The ouija board was not really used and the inclusion of it in the movie was well handled. Don't knock it until you watch the movie. I'd say it'd be a very good rental.
Haha for real...i was seated right next to three teens who didnt seem to give a crap about the movie. They were texting the whole time and conversating about stuff unrelated to the movie. I dont go to the movies much, but next time i want to see a movie i'll be sure to go on a weekday during school hours.
Their laughter was nothing more than a defense mechanism. I bet every last one of those giggling girls was scared ****less and won't sleep right for weeks.
Maybe you left the theater to go take a leak or something, but they explained the message pretty clearly. Remember the lady that Micah found on the internet, and what happened to her when she called in the exorcist? The message was her name.
This is exactly why I only go to the movies on Saturday first showing of the morning. I remember when I was younger and went to the movies I never talked throughout an entire movie.
Actors maybe? Unless someone owned the house that they shot the movie in, they'd have to rent out the house too.
