    Wow...

This was definitely the best non-comedy (Superbad) of the year...

    Javier Bardem deserves the Oscar...

    Watched this last night.

GREAT movie, but WTF? I kept thinking something was wrong with the DVD, like they left out the ending scene or something.

I wanted to see that bad guy get what was coming to him.

that's the scary part though. A lot of times in real life. The bad guys wins and doesn't get what's coming to him. Just when you thought karma bites him in the ass he gets up and walks away to continue his madness.

One of the best movies of all time. Antoine Chigurgh is probably one of the top three scariest villans ever! (Hannibal Lector and T2)

I saw this about a month ago. I thought it was okay. Javier Bardiem was great. I thought Josh Brolin was equally good, though. And the rest of the cast acted exceptionally. Without the great acting, the movie would have sucked. With it, I thought it was worth the money, but nothing about it made me think it was super awesome or anything. If it comes on HBO or something sometime in the future, I may leave it on. But if I don't see it again for 10-20 years, I wouldn't be surprised.

I keep waiting to buy this dvd, although it always pisses me off how the Coen Bros rarely fill their dvds with any good commentary.

I was a little disappointed. I thought it was well-made, but I bristle at the concept, I suppose. I think most of the Coen stuff is better.

I'll be vague to avoid spoilers, even though the movie is old now. I understand what they were driving at, but it's an idea that doesn't require extraordinary circumstances, with drug money and guns and all. They could have done the same theme with geologists or accountants; which, of course, would have been boring. It seems like making it a sort of action movie is a lot of misdirection, which left me disappointed at the end.

    OVERRATED

this movie was so overrated. It was ok, but not deserving of best picture. Everyone talks about how complex it is and how it makes you think, but I found it very simple and kinda boring in parts, plus i thought the ending was dumb although it made sense with the plot and theme and everything, just an average movie imo.

I also thought it was over-rated, just like the book was over-rated, and how Cormac McCarthy is over-rated.

The guy is apparently one of the best living American authors, but he writes at about a ninth grade level. I understand that his books are "about the journey" but its OK to have an ending from time to time.

One of the cool things, however was the setting in Sanderson, TX, where a lot of my family is from.

Extremely overrated. I really dug the first hour, but I felt cheated with Josh Brolin's ultimate fate occuring offscreen and the lack of any definitive ending.

What's going on with all the mediocre Best Picture winners lately. 2005 was Crash which is one of the most offensive and overpraised movies I've ever seen. 2006 was The Departed which was bloated and paled in comparison to Infernal Affairs. And now No Country For Old Men.

I still haven't seen There Will Be Blood which I hear is terrific, but I loved Michael Clayton. That was definitely a more deserving Best Picture nominee than NCFOM.

Agreed...I thought Crash sucked...I love the Departed, although I have not seen Infernal Affairs...There will be Blood was ok, IMHO, but DDL was awesome...I thought the ending sucked or maybe they could have done a whole lot more to finish the story better...
