Anything Bay is even remotely involved in will suck. Sure, it will look pretty....the films he is associated with generally are. But any depth, character development, or stimulation of the mind will be MIA. But then again, I suppose you don't really expect these things from the type of films you see him with.

He's in a producing role not directing, not saying its going to be great, will probably suck like the rest of the remakes that have come out but Bay directing vs Bay producing, fairly large difference.

I think I would rather sit and watch a blank screen for two hours. I can use my imagination to visualize a unique story...since Hollywood can't seem to produce anything original any more.

Freddy Krueger = the worst "slasher" ever.

Anyone else agree or am I alone in this?

the first one is not. i think there were some very classic parts in it. i wish it would have taken itself a little more seriously, but thats ok.

J.E.H. is the movie, and sadly that isn't saying much.

worth watching on DVD, but not at the theater.

would the specifics really matter... when it, by all accounts, and quite expectedly... was executed poorly as a whole...?

Don't know if this needs to be spoiled or not so, I will just in case.

This movie tried to get away from the original. There are some remnants of the original but they are not really major parts of the story at all, for example the bladed hand coming up from the bathtub, which was in the trailer. I believe I read somewhere too that the producers actually wanted to go their own route and escape from the original.

it was just ok, but i kinda felt cheated. the movie was good for the kiddies that have never seen the original, but bad for those who have. just sucks that the folks who made this call it a "remake", but neglect the biggest scene. as grendal mentioned earlier, it had a little emo feel to it.

how in the hell do you not include a guy getting pulled into a bed and a arseload of blood being spit out from it and flowing unto the ceiling? nancy falling through the ceiling in this one through a pool of blood was a copout. wtf? i mean seriously, you can include tina getting dragged in a clear bodybag through the hallway of the school (a girl asking for a hallpass would have owned), but you can't include bloody bed massacre scene?!?

anyhow, these things would have made it better:

-nancy's mom was better as a drunk
-nancy not looking/sounding like daria from mtv back in the day
-freddy having a scene where one of his arms it like ten feet long and the other being about half that size
-freddy controlling/killing someone off with a wii controller

freddy's make-up/acting was great, though his scowl was too reminencent of the joker and his yelling was like that of batman in the dark knight. still, he was top notch.

As has been mentioned bit and pieces from the original but the plot is different and characters different as well.

Like I said in my above post, the producers were actually trying to get away from the original and not make an exact copy. I'm not sure if this would be considered a remake, reboot or a reimage myself.

Unless you enjoy cheap jump scares, this one isn't scary at all

Never thought Nightmare On Elms Street was ever scary. More like a deformed PeeWee Herman with Wolverines claw running around slashing people. Robert Englund was a comedian so he was never considered someone to take serious even as Freddy Krueger.
